GRIFFITH NOTES: "The Aussie Ruler" July 29, 1973 - No.14

By Swan: A last quarter burst again saved the day for the Seniors two weeks ago against Ganmain.

We kicked ten goals and lots of points to make the total a little more respectable than what it should have been.

Terry (Blinky) Bennett won the Griffith Co-op shirt award with some fine one-handed marks - he even kicked some goals. Others to do well were Norm (Asp) Anderson, Glen (Gloppy) Luhrs, Ralph (Chunder) Todd, Phillip (Smelly) Smith and Richard (Mugsy) Milne.

The Seconds were slow to begin but gradually drew away from Ganmain to remain undefeated. Even the horrible pair of hoboes John (Smacker) Schmetzer and Ian (Hump Jump Hop) Hamilton, were tested in the last line of defence.

However, Griffith had a stayer in Ian Wade at the goal umpire position - nothing got past Ian.

Other to play well were Garry (Hunky) Hazelman, Denis (Tibsy) Tyndall, Terry (Hacker) Hughes, Reg (Hangover) Higgins and Stephen (Bibsy Bobsy) Brand.

A reminder of the club's Annual Ball on August 10th - tickets available now at Bob Carroll's Menswear - the Social Committee will appreciate your booking early.
