Match report - Swans on Screen: Saturday's match at Mangoplah Sportsground did not create any great excitement amongst the spectators, as it was apparent the Goannas would have an easy win. The visitors were not out in full force, weakened by the absence of Henry Delves, Jack Rowston, Tom Trevaskis and Sam Foley, but they managed to face the barrier with the full complement. Although it will be admitted the better team won, the game was very evenly contested. There was a good deal of friendly feeling displayed by the supporters of either side, but the decisions of both field umpires exasperated Griffith players and supporters.
With two teams of equal strength and equal chances the umpires would have easily scored a win on their Saturday's display for Griffith's opponents. I just want to state that the "whistle blowers", kept up the average free kicks for Mangoplah, and I want to say here they were not giving any free kicks to Griffith, and this greatly retarded the game. I am stating this now so that it cannot be said it is the cry of beaten men. With such an easy victory it is needless to select the best player for personal notice, but everyone in the Goannas team played well and it would be also hard to single out any of the Swans players, as the majority were somewhat below their best.
