GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 29, 1982 - No. 22

By Swan: The First-Grade game proved costly as we have to defeat East Wagga-Kooringal today to lift ourselves from the bottom of the ladder. Bearing in mind, I am sure all players will give a little bit extra effort in today's game.
Marty O'Donnell played a sterling game and was helped by Gerard Toscan, Robbie Owen, Ian Wade and Paul Baldi, who kicked five goals and figured in a few others.
The Second-Grade side notched up one of their football feats - a win - on Sunday to the delight of everyone, including Ian Wade, who feels a bit more like Francis Bourke with every win.
The game was quite close right throughout, but the boys battled it out. Mike Thompson received the B. and F. Mug and was closely followed by Stephen Crack, Craig "Marlon" Brand, Shane Best and Chris O'Dwyer.
The Under 19's, who have won nine games on end, have a chance to sneak into the finals, but, after the way they played last week against Tigers, could not only defeat any RFL Under 19's, but the Collingwood side as well. Jamie Alpen played superbly as did, well the whole side and with such dedicated interchange players, we all hope they make it into the finals.
