GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 3, 1992 - No. 3

The Griffith Swans finally found their way to the winning side of the ledger with two good wins over Leeton last week. While the Seniors had a win, the underdone Leeton side pushed the boys all the way in what turned out to be a good display from both sides. The Reserves had it a bit easy against Leeton and will not be able to take it easy against Wagga today.  Unfortunately, the Netball girls went down in both matches, but it was good to see two full sides travel for the matches. The Under 18's are still a bit of a problem and the club forfeited for probably the first time since Griffith started playing (Third Grade) football, but today we should see a full squad on the paddock after some hard work by coach Ted McKeown.

The First Grade started slowly last week and went out of the match in the third quarter but came home with a wet sail to kick eight goals in the last quarter to win easily. Winners of the awards, sponsored by Les Wilesmith Caltex were Gerard Toscan, first gamer Scott Angrove, Greg Collins and Paul Young.

Best for the Seconds were Brad Hammond with 10 goals, Christian Files, who will kill them when he starts training every night, Jim Shannon and another new player Matthew Mamouney.

Welcome to Wagga today and hopefully the sides can keep up the winning way, but whichever way it goes, we will work out what was right or wrong, over a beer in the clubhouse after the match.
