GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 6, 1994 - No. 17

On a day that would have done an Eskimo weather forecaster proud - the only reason nobody was frozen solid was because the snow didn't hit the ground. Unfortunately, the Under 18's were defeated but were best served by Craig Browne, Nathan Clausen, Matt Kenny, Adam Sara and Normy Campbell, who has begun to put a couple together.

The Seconds came away with a good win, though old timers Darrell 'Pin' Collins and Gerard 'Lazarus' Toscan (with 4 goals) wondered if turning purple was worth it. Best players were Scotty Wade, Dominic Norman (superb in ruck), Mark 'Pup' O'Bryan, David Gee and Bruce 'Torpedo' Dixon-Flint. Once again, the incentive award was posted - perhaps to contribute to Foster' suing John Elliott.

The Netballers at least had the comfort of an indoor stadium. The B Grade couldn't field a full side, and so lost on a forfeit, while A Grade had a resounding 44-11 win. Best players were Carmen Olney in defence, Rachel Neville in the centre and Kirsty Collis shooting. From second last in '93 to second so far in the competition - things are looking good.

The Firsts had a big win and were glad enough just to get it. In a side depleted by injuries, Ron 'Moose' Irvin and Myles Bunn more than held their own. Coach Fitzsimmons had a big game, along with Brett 'Swampy' Davis and Gary 'Gus' Argus (with 8 sausage rolls to hit the front in the goal kicking). Chris 'Conan' Conlan took the major share of the Incentive Scheme, along with Myles Bunn and Rick 'Bird' Burdett.

This week the East Wagga Hawks. Carn The Swans!
