GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 5, 1998 - No. 12

AFTER leading for three quarters the Seniors were defeated by Leeton-Whitton in a good game of football. We had our chances to win and did not take enough of them. It is crunch time now and we must start winning to be there at the business end of the season. The awards were sponsored by Elders Limited, and they were as follows: The Ex-Servicemen's Club dinner for two was won by Tony ''Spud'' Mahar, the Billabong Bottle Shop award was won by Shane ''The Goose'' Ruyg, the Prendy's BP petrol voucher was won by Phil ''Old Blue Eyes'' Rowston, and the Lowes award was won by Frank ''Michael Klim'' Matthews. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches award was won by Daniel ''Felix Unger'' Tuohey.
The Reserve grade were in front at half time but could not maintain the tempo in a poor effort. The awards were $30 and the Players' Player Mug to Tony ''Tank Engine'' Butcher, $20 Adrian ''Agassi'' Stibbard and $10 to Trent ''Mr. Smooth'' Demarco. The McDonalds Griffith Coaches award was won by Aaron Taylor.
The Under 18's had a good win to consolidate their position in the final five. The awards were $15 to Michael Elliott, $10 Paul Kite and $5 to Matthew Neyland.  The Netballers tried hard but were defeated 74-6.
On the Social scene do not forget about the mid-season Ball to be held next Saturday after the Temora game at the Yoogali Club. Tickets available from Elders or the Football Club at $10 per person which includes entertainment and supper. Everyone is welcome.
