GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 11, 1995 - No. 9

Last Saturday turned out to be all that was expected, 6 games of football all on the same oval proved to be a successful promotion of the code. Congratulations to Darrell Collins (Griffith) and Richard Blagrove (Leeton-Whitton) on making the day happen. With 8 results up for grabs it was a great effort to win 6 football matches and the 2 netball games as well.
After a very even Under 18's match which had a low scoring result the boys came away with the victory. Best players and incentive award winners were Bill Furner $20, Kevin Collins $15, and Adam Sara $10, with other good players being Matthew Olney and Glen Vaccari.
A very pumped up and highly strung captain coach got the 2nds in the right frame of mind, and they also had a good win. The incentive awards went to Malcolm Burke $30, Andrew McCashney $20 and Richie Telfer $10, while the players play award went to Jamie Reid and Jason Vaccari.
Unfortunately, our win in the First Grade was dampened with the news that Dean Jamieson might miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury. The incentive award winners went to Owen Geddes $100, Dean McGowan $50 (8 great goals), Ricky Burdett $30 and Greg 'Splash' Collins $20. Other good players were Brett 'Swampy' Davis, Matt Cox and Phil Rowston.
The Netball girls started off very strongly. A comfortable half time lead saw them through for a win. Player of the Day was Karen Conlan with the final score 29-18.
This week it's Coolamon who always save something for Griffith so let's beware of them.
