GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 11, 1998 - No. 13

AFTER a slow first quarter against the EWK Hawks, the boys stepped up a notch to record a very good and badly needed win. Now is the time to string a few wins together if we want to feature at the business end of the season.

The awards were sponsored by Danny's Store and the Griffith Ex-Servicemen's Club dinner for two was won by Jason "The Tasmanian Terror" Magoci, the Billabong Bottle Shop award will be well utilised by Frank "Dawn Fraser" Matthews, the Prendy's BP Petrol Voucher was won by Phil "Plugger" Rowston and the Lowes Socks went to Dean Jamieson. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches award was won by Damien "Son of Pavese" Crotty.
The 2nds game was tight for three quarters, but the boys kicked away in the last quarter to win. The Players' Player Mug was won by Tony "Bonecrusher" Butcher, $20 to Dom "Elle Bache" Skehan and $10 to Darrell "Father Times" Collins. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches award was won by Owen "Sadie" Brown.
The Under 18's had a top win and went another step towards the top three at the end of the year. The awards were $15 to Simon McClure, $10 to Paul Kite and $5 to Jake Maguire. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches award was won by Scott Rawle.
The netballers were defeated 42 to 16 in a much-improved effort. It would make life a little bit easier for the girls if they could get a full team together, so any interested players are welcome.
