GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 14, 1986 - No. 9 

What a win in Wagga last week. The First-grade side played great football to eventually win quite comfortably. The second half of the game proved to be as good as the cuisine at a restaurant made famous by the quest appearances of a number of leading football-sopranos on Saturday night. Andy Romagnolo played up all weekend and even received a fat lip for which Splash Collins tracked him down in the early hours on Sunday morning to offer some liquid treatment for the injury, much to the dismay of one of Romo's roommates. Snow 'Barnesy' Taylor took his first overhead mark for the season, but it was nothing like Shane McDermott who had a drink on Saturday night for every mark he took and was still going on Sunday. But it was young Greg Hill who played like 26-year veteran to win the pewter.
Some reports suggested that some Under 19 and Second graders showed better form at the Leagues Club on Saturday night that Robertson Oval. With a number of players unavailable, several U19 players were enlisted to help the 2nds suffer one of the worst hidings of the year. T.B. was so stunned by the loss he failed to name a best player for the day, but most people reckoned Lennie 'Mr. South Aust.' Brown should have won it.
In the Under 19's game 'Horsey' Gardner was heard to mutter Mike Brady's name as the best player. This enabled him to sit on the first-grade interchange bench and talk to Steve 'Lemon' Brooks when an injury forced him from the field.
