GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 14, 1996 - No. 14

After a bit of a fright early in the second quarter the Seniors took over the game to run out comfortable winners. We must continue to consolidate our position in the final five, keeping our minds firmly planted on a top three finish.
The awards were $100 to Jamie 'The Road Runner' Bennett, $50 to Mick 'The Smiling Assassin' Smith, $30 to Mathew 'Bon Voyage' Cox, and $20 to Trevor 'Watch out for that air conditioning vent' Clarke. The Players' Player award was won by Jamie Bennett. Other good players were Greg 'Goo-Goo-Ga-Ga' Collins, and Brian 'The Torpedo Kid' Stanislaus.
The 2nds played good football early to set up a big victory. The award winners were $30 to Mark 'Come and play with the boys after the game' McCormack, $20 to Aaron 'I am a person this week' O'Keefe, and $10 to Colin 'No U turns please' Cassidy. The Player' Player was won by Joe 'What do I do with the Mug' Agresta, and the Mugs' Mug was won by Tony 'The Angry Ant' Butcher. Other good players included Andy 'Another conference this week' McCashney, and Michael 'It's good to see you kicking goals' Reid.
The Under 18's battled hard all day without much luck. Keep it up boys and the wins will come your way. The awards were $20 to Rodney Savage, $15 to Rodney Duncan and $10 to Luke Irons. Other good players were Nathan Kite and Peter Hunt.
A Grade netballer were defeated while B Grade did not play. On the social scene do not forget the 'Games and Cocktails' night next Saturday after the Temora game, commencing at 8 pm at the Exies Sports Club. All players to be there and all supporters are welcome to attend.
On a sad note, after many aborted attempts, one of our favourite sons goes overseas on Monday. As many may know Mathew Cox is heading overseas and all at the Club wish him the best.
The Griffith Swans Badge Draw will start selling today so see 'Joker' or the players for tickets.
On a final note, congratulation to Matthew Olney for making the NSW State side for the Under 18's National Championship. Also, to those ladies who made the representative netball side in the series of matches played over the last few weeks. Last but not least congratulations also go to those Under 11's boys who will play in the Little League at the MCG soon. Well done boys and enjoy the day.
