GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 14, 1994 - No. 18

Once again, the long trip to East Wagga on Saturday caused plenty of problems in fulfilling our commitments to fill 3 grades, but it was managed, just! Ask T.B. our Under 18's coach, who really was under pressure. He believes his beloved Under'18s are a chance for the finals, but it would help him if some players were as committed as he. However, those players that played, really did us proud and kept the side in the race for the finals. Best players were Brent Harrison, Simon Taylor, Tim Schmetzer $15, Rodney Best $10 and Wayne Donetto. The rest of the incentive award, which was sponsored by the Donetto Family, was given to the side.

The Seconds again had numbers of problems, but it was still a good side that ran onto the ground when you consider who was in the side, but the half time score was terrible. After Mark's very much-to-the-point and accurate address during the break, a new side became apparent - kicking 6 goals straight and really showed what was capable. However, the side ended up going down in the last quarter after kicking 1.6. Best players were Mark O'Bryan, Richard Telfer, Dominic Norman, Darrell Collins, Jason Wadley and Gerard Toscan, with 4 goals.

The Firsts seem to be hitting their straps as their run continues towards the finals. If they had kicked straight last week, the win would have been huge. Best players were Graham Foley who collected the $100, David Eichler who collected the $50, Tim Fraser $30 and Andrew Barber who collected the $20. Other good players were Shane Fitzsimmons, 'Swampy' Davis and Phil Rowston, in a very good team effort. Our Netballers were unsuccessful going down 17-28. Our best were Carmen Olney, Rachel Neville, Suzie Parise and Kylie Simpson.

This week it's Turvey Park, so let's make sure it's a long drive home for them!
