GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 17, 1988 - No. 2

The Griffith Swans started the '88 season fairly bad. First Grade went down, Reserves went down and Pete 'which way?' Casey ran the ball 40 metres backwards. But we did have some success.

The Netballers started off the season with a superb win. Thanks to the great coaching job from 'Mauz' Dreyer and a top effort from Paula 'Typhoon' Tyson and Jackie Cudmore, the girls won!

The Under 18's won with 15 men! They ran and ran, tackled and tackled, chased and chased and came out on top! Matt 'Zip Zip' Signor was B.O.G., while Mat Cox played a great game. Newcomer Jarrod 'Magic' Walker did a great job on the forward line and Ted was ecstatic.

The 2nds tried hard all day but couldn't pull it off. Marco '25 schooners' Fanani won the mug for a dashing display, while Roy 'Gambler' Agresta and Mike 'Junior Geddes' Brady tried hard. Ian 'Tiny' Sheppard also did well because he didn't have a hang-over for once!

The Seniors side led at the first change, but I'm sorry to say that's about it. They fought out the game well and considering they lost Ian 'Daddy' Geddes, they went well. Dave '160 possessions' Johnson did well all day and deservedly won the mug. Darrell Collins did those Darrell Collins things, and Peter 'Hoot' McGrath and Tyndo (Mark Tyndall) played well. Greg 'Larkers' Dreyer and Mal 'Bub' Williams roved well all day.

The social was a real bright night with Brendan 'Tricks' Guthrie and Marty 'Strand by Strand' O'Donnell leading the young fellas well. Let get into these Tigers this week and send 'em back to Wagga with four losses (yay netballers) and less hair than our coach! Up the Swans!
