GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" September 18, 1993 - No. 20

To win a major semi-final is a great feeling but to come from 42 points down in the third quarter especially Ganmain and win is an even better sensation. Our boys discovered that when you dig deep, play with plenty of G & D and show desire to win the ball and then the game, then anything can happen. To single out individual players would be unfair, as it was a great team effort and that's the way it should be when finals football is played. It was great to have such a vocal bunch of supporters at the ground - so let's maintain that noise level and support against the Wagga Tigers and we could find ourselves travelling back from Narrandera next weekend for the grand final. The incentive awards went to Greg Collins $100, Gerard Toscan $50, Jamie Bennett $30 and Paul Young $20.

Congratulations to our newest Quinn Medal winner in Gary Argus who certainly made the club, teammates and supporters proud last Tuesday night.

The Under 18's also had a win against Narrandera and hopefully they can win against Leeton and advance to the grand final. After receiving a fright in the last quarter, the boys steadied to win by 15 points. Good players for Griffith were Graham Foley, the club's best & fairest winner and who also came third in the Under 18's league count last Tuesday night. Mark Henderson who had a strong game in defence, Peter Vardanega on his wing and Matthew Kenny and Michael Reid in the forward line.

Best of luck to both of our sides, let's hope that we come home with two wins and get ourselves into that one game in September, when it really counts. Up The Swannies!
