GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 20, 1986 - No. 2

After good wins in the Third and Second XVIII it took the warmth out of the day when Griffith Swans went down by seven points in the Firsts at Narrandera. A lightening start by the Swans saw the hopes of a large number of Swan supporter's hopeful of breaking the hoodoo of the Narrandera Sportsground. Unfortunately, the Swannies trying to eat their cake and backchat saw too many crumbs fall to the eager Imps who lead for most of the day. Apart from fine individual efforts by David 'see I can kick straight' Alpen, Rob Owen and Neil Bruce, the Swans ran like legless individuals until the end of the second term. The third and final terms saw a recovery but unfortunately the momentum was not enough to get them past the post.

The Seconds, no doubt inspired by the Thirds win, turned on a sparkling display of teamwork to swamp a shell-shocked Imperial side. A good team effort sees them top of the ladder, so let's keep them there!

The Thirds, smarting from their last match loss on the Sportsground, thrashed a lethargic Narrandera. They too could be a force in '86.

Today were at home against the Lions, so let's get three wins. Up The Swans!
