GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 22, 1988 - No. 6

Sunday last wasn't the Swans greatest day. Our MIA opponents Leeton played too well in all grades, and we couldn't complete.

The Under 18's were always in it but the Redlegs came home like a steam train and won. Mat 'Another award doesn't matter' Cox was best, while Rob Kelly thought he was Daicos with six goals.

The Seconds went down to an enthusiastic Leeton side. In a team effort, the old stagers were the Swannies best (as usual).

The First Grade game was a very close and high scoring. In a clash that always brings out the best in both sides, the Leeton came out on top. Big Barty Harrington kicked seven goals in a display that finally might quieten critics (hopefully). Greg 'Wayne Harmes' Dreyer was Griffith's best with his best ever senior display and Darren 'Neil Bruce 2' Prest did very well in the centre. Danny 'Abdul Kareem' Files continued with his fine form. Coach O'Donnell tried hard (as usual).

This week we play East Wagga at Gumly Oval, and all coaches are expecting big wins. The Hawks may have female strappers, but the Swans have fantastic footballers, nice netballers and super supporters! Let's whoop it up these emus, opps Hawks! Go The Swans!
