GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 25, 1998 - No. 2

AN inspirational turnaround last Saturday night saw the Seniors come from 7 goals down at half time to win by 32 points against Leeton-Whitton in front of a huge crowd. A top effort by the players, however we cannot afford to give opposition teams this sort of start.
The incentive awards, provided by game sponsor Bidgee Marine and Mitchell Ag Parts were as follows: Exies Dinner for Two to Tom "The Freak" Siegert, Billabong Bottle Shop Award to Glenn "Fidget" Vaccari, the Prendys BP Petrol Voucher to Phil "Rowdy" Rowston and the Lowes socks to Shane "The Leap" Ruyg. A great team effort provided a tremendous start to the season.
The Reserves started the season well against a very determined opposition to hold on by nine points. The awards were $30 and the Players' Player Mug to David "Digger" Gee, $%20 to Trent "Trenno" Demarco and $10 to Mark "Macca" McCormack. The McDonald's / Griffith Coaches award was won by Matt "Steroids" Kenny.
The Under 18's had a convincing win against strong opposition. The awards were $15 to Stephen Mitchell, $10 to Shane Russell and $5 to Michael Duncan. The McDonald's / Coach's Award was won by Matthew Edwards.
The netball girls were defeated 70-9 but it was good to see them get a team together. Keep it up girls.
This week player profile is on a player returning to the Club this year, Matthew Cox. Nicknames: Coxy, Dogdad, Mowgli. Favourite Pastimes: Teaching, living with Justin Barry, not washing while travelling through Spain. Dislikes: Hairdressers, sharing, launderettes, water. Ambition in Life: To grow my hair longer than "Cousin lt".
This week's game against East Wagga-Kooringal is sponsored by Griffith Laundry Service and we thank them for their kind sponsorship.
