GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 25, 1996 - No. 20

A cold and dismal day at Maher Oval produced the wrong result for the Seniors after a good start. Undisciplined let Turvey Park back into the game and from then on, we didn't give a whimper. Things must change as that sort of effort is not good enough. We all want the pats on the back when things are going well, so how about taking the responsibility when things are not. Stand up and be counted today against EWK and make sure we consolidate our spot in the five.
The Senior awards were $100 to Tony "The Pocket Dynamo" Butcher, $50 to Matthew "Dougy" Olney, $30 to Dean "It's been 12 months now" Jamieson, and $20 to Matthew "Who's driving tonight" Bunn. The players' player award was convincingly won by Tim "Barge" Fraser.

Congratulations also go to Tim Fraser and Joe Agresta on playing their 50th senior game against Turvey Park.
The 2nds were made to work hard to get the 4 points and secure the minor premiership. Well done boys on this achievement. Let's make sure we keep ongoing. The awards were $30 to Glen "Club 58" Smith, $20 to Greg " He with the biggest watch band in the club" Dreyer and the $10 to Brett "What night is training this week" McAlister. The players' player award was won by Adam "The Astronaut" Baulch and the Mugs' Mug was won by David "Mr Mom" Gee.
The Under 18's battled away against a bigger and strong Turvey side for little result. The best players were Stuart Davies, Rodney Duncan, Peter Hunt, Stephen Mitchell and Paul Kite.
Congratulations go out to Steve Cunial on reaching the 50 reserve grade games milestone. Well done, Steve.
Commiserations go to the Under 15's who were beaten in the grand final last week.
There will be a meeting held next Friday for those of you that are interested in helping the club do the catering for the qualifying final at Narrandera. There will be an announcement at today's game about the meeting.
This week's Player Profile is on Tim Fraser.
Nicknames: Super, Fras, Barge, The Big Fella. Favourite Pastime: Bagging other people, talking about myself, selecting the senior side, barracking for my beloved Magpies. Most Admired Person: Gino, the bloke dancing with Fiona at Club 500. Career Highlights: Living with the senior coach. Thoughts on Football: Everyone, especially me, should be allowed to play in the forward line. Scariest Moment in Football: Having my character questioned by a prominent full forward from a neighbouring club - and I didn't let fear hold me back.
