GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 28, 1996 - No. 16

On a wet and cold day at Temora, Griffith was defeated by a very hungry home team on a very heavy Temora ground. It is now crunch time boys, so let's get behind Phil and make every post a winner from now on. Let the critics write us off, but let's make sure our actions support our words.
In the Seniors the award winners were $100 to Mark 'Good Header' Brown, $50 to Patrick 'The wily old campaigner' Dempsey, $30 to Danny 'Do you really want me to run over there?' Tuohey, and $20 to Greg 'The Galloping Gasometer' Collins. The Players' Player award was won by Mark Brown. Other good players were Matthew 'Not Myles' Bunn and Brian 'Round 'em up' Evans. Good to see Don Moran on target too.
The 2nds had a hard-fought win against a determined Temora. A good effort under the circumstances. The awards were $30 to Christian 'What a great jumper' Files, $20 David 'The Clot King' Gee, and $10 Normie 'Plugger' Campbell. The Players' Player went to 'The Mallee Bull' Burke and the Mugs Mug to Michael 'Can't train, I'm away this week' Reid.
Many thanks to Rodney Duncan and Stuart Davies for backing up from the Under 18's to help out the 2's. Well done. The Under 18's had a good win to put a smile on George's face. Great work guys, just keep training and more wins will come your way. The best players were Stuart Davies, Rodney Savage, Peter Hunt, Rodney Duncan and David Dunn.
There was no netball last week to report on. In the social news do not forget the Trivia Night at the Ex-Sports Complex next Saturday night after the Coolamon game. Teams of 8 to Brett McAlister please, $5 a head entry for a night's entertainment.
