SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record July 11, 1999 - No.13

A good day for the Club with all three grades winning (against Narrandera).

The Seniors started slowly again and kicked poorly early not making the most of their chances. After being behind at half time the guys played a terrific third quarter kicking seven goals to none to open a substantial three-quarter time lead. We were certainly challenged in the final term but to our credit they withstood the challenge and went on to record a top win in what was at times a very willing and physical game.

The awards were sponsored by Fred Cole, and we thank them for that. The Exies Dinner was won by dashing defender Daniel "Hi Ho Silver" Tuohey with a top game in the last line of defence, the Snuggle Inn award was won by on-baller Mark "The Natural Way" Hildebrandt who picked up plenty of possessions, the McDonalds award was won by rugged backman Greg "The coaches dream" Dreyer for a solid four quarter effort, and the McNabb Caltex award was won by the long kicking Damien "Beam me up" Scott with another consistent in the backline.

The Reserves played poorly in the first half but certainly turned it around in the second half kicking seven goals to one to run out winners. The Billabong award and Players' Player Mug was won by speedy on-baller Matthew "The Geelong Flyer" Bunn with a four-quarter effort, the McDonalds award was won by wiry backman Luke "Ring me a taxi" Irons with a disciplined game in defence, and the Griffith Laundry Service was won by stout defender Nathan "Smiley" Flint for a top effort.

The Under 18's had another top win despite being pushed early by a strong opposition. Keep up the good work boys. The C & P Express JDs Pizza award was won by the little back pocket dynamo Matt Flagg with a top game, the McDonalds award was won by the much-improved forward Paul McCormack with a consistent performance, and the Lowes award was won by ruckman Jeff Harris returning after a stint in the Seniors.

Do not forget about the Trivia Night next Thursday at the Exies Sports Club, $5 per person and tables of 10. See Leanne or Kelly for bookings. Tickets are now available for the $1000 reverse draw on August 15.

A reminder that tonight after the game all players and supporters are welcome back to the Exies Sports Club where meals are available.
