SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record April 17, 1999 - No 2.

NOT much can be said about the performance last Sunday, only that significant improvement is needed starting now from everyone involved in the club, that being the players and the committee. Despite the poor start it was only the first game and we now have the opportunity today to get back on the right track against Temora.
The Seniors started slowly and faced a large deficit at half time due to many poor skill errors. Things did not improve in the third quarter however a minor revival in the final term showed promise for the future. The awards were kindly sponsored by Danny's Store. The Exies dinner for two was won by Dean "Denzi" Jamieson, the Snuggle Inn by Phil "Rowdy" Rowston, the Warren Lowry Award to Jake "The Snake" Maguire and the McNabb fuel award to Damien "the birthday boy" Scott.
The 2nds faced a struggle getting numbers on the day but eventually came up with a side that battled hard throughout but were convincingly beaten by a much fitter and more skilful team. The Player's Player Mug was won by Denis "old man river" Bannam, the Billabong Bottle Shop award was won by Scott "Forward Pass" Blanchard, the Warren Lawry award was won by Matthew "Special K" Kenny and the Griffith Laundry Service award was won by Matthew "Not Myles" Bunn.
The 18's were the sole winners for the day and they played very well and recorded a big win. The awards were the P & C Griffith Express JD's Pizza was won by Dom Giorgi, the Trevor Harrison Towel was won by Kane Bannam and the C & P Griffith Express socks were won by the Under 18's captain for 1999 Rodney Simpkin.
Best wishes for everyone at Griffith are extended to Brian Wild from East Wagga-Kooringal on a full and speedy recovery after a freak accident in the senior game on Sunday. It is unfortunate to see accidents like this occur and everyone from Griffith wishes Brian the best for a full and complete recovery.
On the social scene do not forget about the $1000 reverse draw on Sunday 18th April. See Roy Agresta for tickets. There is a 70's Night on Saturday 24th April. See Kelly Ruyg for more details and Matty Kenny for all your clothing needs. This week's awards are sponsored by Bidgee Marine/Mitchell Ag Parts and we thank them for that.
The first players profile for the 1999 season is on Matthew Kenny. Nickname: Special, Matty K, Freak, Mr Universe. Fav pastimes: Admiring my body in the mirror at gymnasiums, renting houses to footballers, driving in a safe and responsible manner, doing jigsaw puzzles at night, peroxiding my hair, Fav Drink: QF's hip flasks of scotch, anything from Harvs at the Elbow. Likes" 70's clothes, lovers, hippis, blond hair, hearing my name screamed out by the coach at training. Dislikes: Monday to Thursday when the nightclubs open, the St Vincent De Paul clothes shop being closed in Griffith. Ambition in life: To train one night without incurring the coach's wrath.
