SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record August 29, 1999 - No.20

FINALLY, a victory for the Seniors, although a very hard earned one after jumping Mango early. The awards were sponsored by Bob and Brenda Spears, and we thank them for that. The Exies Dinner & Players' Player Mug to bustling midfielder Phillip Rowston who won plenty of the ball in the clinches, the Snuggle Inn Towel was won by Shane Ruyg with 7 goals, the Warren Lowry Award was won by the hard running rover Tony Butcher, and the McNabb Caltex Award was won by wingman Damien Scott with a fine effort. Others good performers were Rodney Duncan and David Dunn.

The Reserves finished the season with a loss, and although they never gave up, they were outplayed by a much-improved opposition. The Billabong Bottle Shop & Players' Player Mug to U18 player Paul Kite with a top effort in defence, the McDonalds Award was won by Luke Irons who also had a strong game in defence, and the Griffith Laundry Service Award was won by midfielder Dean Jamieson with another hard running performance.

Thanks to all the Seniors and Reserves grade footballers for their efforts in 1999 in what a difficult year was. I am sure we will turn it around next year so make sure we stick together, starting with getting behind the U18s in their finals campaign today.

They warmed up for the finals with another good win. Keep up the good work guys. The C & P Express JDs Pizza Award was won by forward Ben Ford with a top effort, the McDonalds Award was won by big man Stephen Mitchell, and the Lowes Socks were won by Matthew Edwards who picked up plenty of possessions. Good luck Adrian Pavese and all the 18s.

Congratulations goes to George Duncan and the U16s on defeating Narrandera to win the SWDJFL Premiership. Please do not forget about the 1999 Presentation Night on Friday 8 October at the Ex-Servicemen's Club. Tickets will be available soon.
