Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: Five unanswered goals in the third term helped guide Mangoplah-CUE to a 36-point win over Ganmain-GGM in the Riverina League qualifying final, with the Goannas running out 13.12 (90) to 8.6 (54) winners at Narrandera Sportsground. A vast improvement on their previous results against the Lions this season, MCUE co-coach Nelson Foley was rapt with the performance his side delivered in such a crucial game. "I think proud is probably the right word for it," Foley said. "We are just so proud of the whole group, the whole squad, and I think that's the most mature and complete performance that we're put together. "We're had a lot of learning this year, but we've felt like our past three weeks have been really solid. We've been able to really build and put a stake in the ground each week, and to do it again today, I was really proud and happy. "It was an amazing win by all the boys."
After four final losses during his time at the club, Foley said it was great to deliver a long-awaited finals win for the MCUE supporters. "We had so many supporters out here, and it's cool to have them out here for this. Hopefully there are a couple more to come."
The Goannas raced out to an early lead through first term goals to Lewis Pulver and Lachy Kendall; however, the Lions hit back just before quarter time through Dan Foley to reduce their deficit to nine points at the first change.
After trading goals early in the second. the Goannas than booted three straight through Pulver, Jack Castles, and Harrison Wheeler to get to a 29-point lead. But again the Lions were able to find a late response, this time through Jack Reynolds, to bring the margin back to 23 points at the main break.
The Goannas then ran away with the contest in the third term, establishing a 54-point three-quarter time lead after booting five unanswered goals in a dominant display of football. After trading goals early in the last term, the Lions were then able to lessen the damage late, with Jed Corbett getting some reward for effort with three final quarter goals.

Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: A frenetic opening term guided Turvey Park to a dominant 67-point win over Wagga Tigers in the Riverina League elimination final. The Bulldogs kicked five unanswered goals in the opening term to race out to a 35-point quarter time lead. From there, the Bulldogs built their lead over the remaining three quarters, eventually running out 18.11 (119) to 7.10 (52) at Maher Oval.
After a complete four quarter performance, Turvey Park coach Dylan Morton was understandably delighted with his side's efforts in such an important game."I'm super proud of the boys," Morton said. "In big finals it takes every bloke to get the job done, and every single player on the field had a significant contribution. "Whether it was applying pressure or just winning their individual one-on-one contest, I was just so happy as everyone  did what they were asked, and we got the result that we wanted."
Tom Baxter was sensational early with two opening goals, while further goals to Zach Walgers, Andrew Emery, and Ben Quilter helped the Bulldogs race out to a commanding 35-point quarter-time lead. The Tigers finally hit the scoreboard in the second term; however, Turvey Park continued to pull away, extending their advantage to 44 points at the main break.
After Ben Kelly kicked the opening goal of the second half for the Tigers, Turvey Park were then able to hit straight back through goals to Hunter Higgins, Will Ashcroft, and Luke Fellows, which pushed their lead out to 55 points. Jackson Kelly responded for the Tigers; however, late goals to Jordy Endermann and Baxter had the margin sitting at 58 points at three-quarter-time.
After trading goals in a fairly even final term, the Bulldogs then sealed victory with late time-on goals to Judd McLeod and Fellows, which settled the final winning margin at 67 points.

Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: Coolamon will play in its first grand final in more than a decade after taking a 50-point win over Mangoplah-CUE in the second qualifying. The Hopper last featured on grand final day in the 2013 decider, where they secured a 23-point win over Collingullie-Ashmont-Kapooka.
After pulling ahead to a four goal lead over MCUE at half-time, the Hoppers made their move early in the second half. Four straight goals to Haiden Schloithe, Nik Dale, Josh Allen, and Braeden Glyde extended Coolamon's lead to 48 points at the 12-minute mark of the third term.
From there, Coolamon was able to control proceedings, with a late goal to Nick Buchanan in the final quarter sealing the 13.15 (93) to 6.7 9(43) victory.
After back-to-back preliminary final defeats, Coolamon's coach Gavin McMahon said it was satisfying to now have the opportunity to play in the grand final. "We're been working pretty hard for a long time," McMahon said. "If we look back to '24 and '25, we've had a couple of setbacks along the way. "We're pretty excited to finally get the opportunity to play on the last day."
One of those off-season recruits, Haiden Schloithe, who made his return from injury against the Goannas. Schloithe finished with an equal game-high three goals, two of which came in the second quarter, and McMahon said he was pleased with his efforts in his return game. "Scooter played his role beautifully, as everyone else did," he said. "He knew we had a midfield that's been getting the job done for quite a while, so we didn't need to put him in there this week," McMahon said.
Buchanan and Dale also finished with three goals for the Hoppers, while Luke Redfern, Nick Pleming, and Cooper McKelvie, were outstanding in the middle for Coolamon. Conversely, Flynn Collins finished with three goals for the Goannas, while Nelson Foley, Harry Collins, and Lewis Pulver, all had solid games for MCUE.
MCUE co-coach Harry Fitzsimmons was honest in his assessment of the match, saying his side simply wasn't able to match the Hoppers in a few crucial areas of the contest. "It was definitely disappointing, but that's finals footy," Fitzsimmons said after the loss. "At the end of the day, you can over dissect a game, but they just brought the pressure, and we were too fumbly at the source. "They just spread, and we couldn't keep up with them. Our defence out of stoppages was pretty poor, and they just brought the heat and we didn't." Already without Jordan Foote, Tristan Wheeler and Lachy Kendall from the previous week's win over Ganmain-GGM, the Goannas were then dealt a late blow with Lachie Johnson also going down in the warm-up.

Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: Turvey Park is through to the preliminary final after prevailing by eight points in their semi-final clash against Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong. The Bulldogs largely controlled the opening half, and for their efforts they carried a 22-point lead into the half-time break.
But all that hard work was erased in seven minutes, as GGGM surged back into the contest with four straight goals to take the lead.
That would be the first of six changes in an enthralling second half of football, which had a dramatic conclusion. Ahead by two points in the final stages, Bulldogs assistant coach Zach Walgers intercepted and took possession of the football on the wing, driving the football inside forward 50 to a one-on-one contest in the goal square.
The decision to punch the ball over the line proved to be costly for GGGM. with the umpire making the call to award a free kick for a deliberate rushed behind to Turvey Park's Ashton Wolter, who truly converted, putting the Bulldogs eight points up with only seconds remaining.
In an extremely courageous act, Walgers took the field just two days after the passing of his father Wayne Walgers on Friday night.
Immensely proud of the heroic win, Bulldogs coach Dylan Morton thought it was only fitting that Walgers stood tall when it mattered most to help set up the winning play in their 9.15 (69) to 9.7 (61) victory at Narrandera Sportsground.
"I'm just proud of the group," Morton said. "This time last year, Ganmain gave us an absolute touch-up, and we made a real point of it that we needed to come out here and redeem ourselves. "We worked so hard in that first half; we than let a few goals in, but I was really impressed, as we didn't roll over."
It's been a challenging week for the Bulldogs, as they also had to deal with the disappointment of losing both Andrew Emery and Jon Marsh to suspension following their elimination win over Wagga Tigers.
With being less than a kick separating the two sides right up until the last seconds of the contest, GGGM coach Riley Corbett said it was a difficult defeat to come to terms with. "It's shattering," Corbett said. I'm just speechless. There are a lot of tough jobs in footy as a coach, and probably the worst is addressing a group after a loss like that. "It's a young and inexperienced group, and I'll probably look back in a month and think about what a great year they've had, especially when you look back at the start of the season and where we were at the start of April. "The last two weeks have been far from our best footy, and it's hard to console a group after that. I will be super proud eventually, once we get over the loss and lick our wounds."

Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: Turvey Park has surged into the grand final after securing a comfortable 62-point preliminary final victory over Mangoplah-CUE. Ahead by just four points at quarter time, the Bulldogs then made their move in the second term, kicking four unanswered goals to open up a 29-point half-time lead. That same margin remained at three-quarter time, and the game was still within reach for the Goannas if everything went well in the final term. However, the Bulldogs then powered home, booting seven final-quarter goals to run out dominant 18.8 (110) to 6.12 (48) winners at Robertson Oval.
Progressing all the way through from the elimination final, Bulldogs coach Dylan Morton said it was fantastic to have now earned their spot in Saturday's decider at Narrandera Sportsground. "I'm extremely proud of the players," Morton said. "We've said that it takes 22 blokes too do their little part, and it's really clicked in that regard over the last three or four weeks, or even a little bit longer. "Blokes are just turning up and doing what they need to do, and as a collective it makes us much better. I'm really happy and proud of all the players as they've worked really hard."
In addition to crediting some standout performances in Jon Marsh, Tom Baxter, Zach Walgers, Jordy Endermann, and Lucas Roberts, Morton also wanted to celebrate the efforts of players such as Will Ashcroft, Hunter Higgins and Harry Stapleton, who carried out their respective duties. It's been a brilliant finals campaign so far for the Bulldogs which has them progressing through three sudden death finals to secure their spot in the grand final opposite the unbeaten minor premiers in Coolamon.
Departing MCUE co-coach Nelson Foley was quick to credit the Bulldogs and coach Dylan Morton conceding they were simply beaten by the better football side. Foley highlighted a few key factors that led to their defeat, including an inability to win one-on-one contests and simply being overworked up and down the ground by the Bulldogs. Adding to the challenge for the Goannas was the fact they lost star midfielder Jordan Foote to a hamstring injury in the opening half. Harry Collins tried hard for the Goannas, while first-year players Ruben and Will Smith both showed plenty of promising signs on the big stage. Confirmed to be moving on for next season, Foley said it was a hurtful way for his 69-game MCUE career to conclude. "I don't know if it's fully hit me yet," he said. "I'm just pretty disappointed, as I felt like we had more in us. But I think there will a bit of sadness upon reflection."

Match report from The Daily Advertiser's Jimmy Meiklejohn: For the first time in 13 years, Coolamon are Riverina League premiers after they surged to a 44-point grand final victory over Turvey Park.
The Hoppers dominated the opening term, kicking the first five goals to build a 26-point quarter time lead. They then booted six goals to one in the second term to enter the sheds at half-time with a 56-point advantage.
After a much more even third term, the Bulldogs rallied late to win the last quarter, however, it mattered little as Coolamon secured a 15.11 (101) to 8.9 (57) grand final victory at Narrandera Sportsground.
In securing their first premiership win since 2013, the Hoppers also became the first team since Ganmain-GGM in 2011 to go through the season undefeated.
Hoppers coach Gavin McMahon struggled to find the words to describe his emotions after the drought breaking premiership win. "Believe it or not, I'm struggling for a few words for the first time in about three years," McMahon said. "That's just phenomenal. I know they've worked so hard, not just for one year, but for a period. "To trust the process and just stick at it, it's just phenomenal for them, and I'm so pleased they got what they were after."
The Hoppers burst out of the gates with four quick goals in the space of ten minutes through Nick Buchanan, Braeden Glyde, Aiden Macauley and Josh Allen to race out to a 25-point lead. Buchanan had his second a few minutes later, before Turvey Park finally hit back for a crucial goal, which reduced the deficit to 26 points at the first change.
The Hoppers continued to surge early in the second term, and through goals to Buchanan, Haiden Schloithe, Archie Perrot and Nik Dale, they were able to push their lead beyond eight goals. Schloithe's second of the term pushed Coolamon's lead beyond 50 points, before Ben Quilter was able to respond for the Bulldogs. Macauley's second of the half just before the half-time siren ensured Coolamon would hit the sheds with a 56-point advantage.
It was a clinical opening half of football from the Hoppers, and McMahon said it was great to see his side at their best when it mattered most. "We came here to play the best football that we possibly could," he said.  "For a half we did, but when you play against good opposition like Turvey, they're don't going to let us do that all day. "Sometimes our best footy is about how we respond to what the opposition is doing, and the third quarter was probably all Turvey, to be honest. "Then we balanced up a little in the last, but the first half when it counted, was outstanding."
Schloithe was a deserving recipient of the Ron Hutchins Medal for best-on-ground after a stellar four-quarter performance for the Hoppers. With Schloithe having been extremely valuable addition this season, McMahon said it was great to see the star midfielder claim the best-on-ground honour. "Scooter is the ultimate, so for him to get the ultimate award is certainly no shock," he said. "He's driven our group since the day he got here, and his confidence allowed our boys to walk a touch taller.  "That was what we needed as much as another high-quality footballer, someone to help with that confidence piece. "He'd delivered that in spades, so we're forever indebted to him for moving halfway across the country for us."
Luke Redfern, Oscar Perrot, Cooper McKelvie, Glyde and Dale were also outstanding for the Hoppers, and McMahon found it difficult to single out standout performers.
"It's a bit of a blur at the minute," he said. "We thought Nik Dale's work rate up and down the ground was phenomenal. The Oscar Perrot; it was a bit a coming of age for him today, as much as it was a high quality performance. "The boys though the middle in Coop (McKelvie), BJ (Glyde), Doc (Macauley) and all the usual suspects. Our back seven, they assumed a collective identity, and I thought they were pretty awesome as well."
There were plenty of green and white on the sidelines at Narrandera Sportsground in what was an outstanding turnout of support from the Coolamon faithful. McMahon said they had been feeling the support all season, but noted it reached another level this week during their final training session. "We've never had to worry about support at Coolamon," he said.  "Our supporters are phenomenal; the whole town travels to support, whether it's over to Griffith and Leeton, or just down the road to Kindra Park."
Bulldogs coach Dylan Morton was humble post-game, crediting Coolamon for their stellar grand final performance. "You're got to risk putting it all on the line to try and win," Morton said. "Losing is part of sport, and I think the last six or seven weeks have been really exciting. We came up against a really good Coolamon team; they're undefeated for a reason, and they were far too good. "You've got to give them a lot of credit for what they've been able to achieve this year."
Morton said it special to see so much support for his playing group, and he noted it was disappointing they couldn't put on a better showing for those who had made the trip," he said. "I thought there was so much support, and it probably breaks my heart a little bit that we couldn't put up more of a fight with all of the support there." The grand final loss to Coolamon officially brings to an end Morton's two year tenure with the Bulldogs.
