Media report - By Jimmy Meiklejohn: A spectacular defensive display from Griffith guided the Swans to an impressive 18-point win over Narrandera. The Swans held the Eagles goalless in the second half, with Griffith often scrambling to rush through behinds to extinguish any of Narrandera's forward 50 entries. After trailing at quarter-time, the Swans then booted seven goals to two in the remaining three terms to secure themselves a 9.4 (58) to 4.16 (40) victory at Narrandera Sportsground.
The 2025 season wasn't exactly kind to Griffith over the first three games as they ensured heavy losses to Collingullie-Wagga (78 points), Coolamon (154 points) and Wagga Tigers (69 points). However, Swans coach Greg Dreyer noted his side has failed to drop their heads and they're continued to crack in both at training and on game day. After a tough start to the season, Dreyer was delighted his side could receive a deserved reward for their continued efforts. "It's been tough alright," Dreyer said. "But to their credit, the boys have stuck to it, we haven't had any drop off at training and they are turning up and working hard.
"The conversation has been pretty positive, and we have had a few plans in place, they stuck to it, and they got the reward. "Griffith limited the Eagles to 0.11 after half time in which was their defensive pressure was a massive factor in Narrandera's eleven behinds recorded. Dreyer said their defence had been a hot topic in recent weeks leading into the game after a couple of sub-par defensive performances in recent weeks. "We've obviously been pretty poor defensively," he said. "When you look back at the scores, Coolamon in particular, but we have just a good team structure today and we stuck to the task. "I think the hard work and persistence has paid off."
Bailey Morrissey finished with three goals for the Swans while off-season recruit Ben Dinning was also outstanding for Griffith. Dreyer praised the efforts of Morrissey and Dinning while he also noted the contributions of Ollie Bartter, Will Vaessen and Blake Aloisi. "Ben Dinning was very good," he said. "He played a bit off half back and a bit through midfield, Ollie Bartter was good in the centre and Will Vaessen was very good at full back. Blake Aloisi in the ruck competed well and Kahlan Spencer was good through the middle; Bailey Morrissey kicked a couple of goals as well. "Mason Rosengreen was also good and there were good solid four quarter efforts from everyone I reckon. "We sort of shared the load to be honest. Source - The Daily Advertiser, Monday May 18, 2025.
Media report - By Sean Cunningham:  SOME inaccurate kicking in front of goal proved costly for Narrandera Eagles first grade team, which lost by 18 points against the Griffith Swans in their Australian football game last Saturday. The Eagles had 20 scoring shots at goal compared to the Swans' 13 during their 4.16 (40) loss in their Riverina Football League game, on home turf at Narrandera Sportsground.
Starting well, taking a slender four-point at the end of the opening quarter, the Eagles were outscored in the following quarter. They went into the main break to regroup after the Swans retook the lead by eight points. The third quarter remained a tight affair with the Eagles still trailing by the same margin entering into the final quarter, but with everything to play for. Six missed opportunities which resulted in behinds saw the game slip away from the Eagles as the Swans held on to win by three goals. Source - Narrandera Argus, Thursday May 8, 2025.
