A summary of match report, with thanks
The Griffith Swans put on a strong second half effort to try and get on top of reigning premiers Ganmain-GGM yesterday, but their burst came too late, and they went down by 15 points. It was the Swans first home game of the season, and their hopes were pinned on gaining their first victory at the Exies Oval, but they had a formidable task ahead of them.

Swans captain-coach Luke McLean admits there may have been some stigma to playing GGGM. "There possibly was a mindset playing the reigning premiers, sometimes it happens when you play a side like that," McLean said. "But we settled in and played a more relaxed game."

McLean said they started nervously but settled into play well in the second half.  "Apart from the second quarter really the guys didn't go too badly," he said.  Now the Swans will be focusing on building their confidence and gaining their first win of the season to put them back on the right track. "I think it is a matter of keeping upbeat," McLean said.  "We played two good sides first up and we haven't been beaten by a lot.

"So now we concentrate and try and chalk up a win."  (By Amelia Elliston - The Area News, Monday April 10, 2006).
