Media report - By Jimmy Meiklejohn: Three goals against the wind proved pivotal for Collingullie-Wagga as they withheld a late surge from Coolamon to lock in a spot in the grand final. The strong breeze at the scoreboard end of the Narrandera Sportsground was worth about three or four goals. Scoring against the breeze proved quite a challenge with only four goals going through the sticks at the other end of the ground.
Ahead by 31 points at three quarter time, the Demons fought off a tremendous late challenge from Coolamon to prevail 10.10 70) to 9.5 (59) winners in the second semi final.
The Demons had first use of the breeze after captain Nick Perryman won the toss, and they took full advantage with the opening term goals to Marty Boyer, Joe Perryman, Tom Byrnes and Harry Wichman. Ahead by 26 points at quarter time, the Demons further extended their lead following an early goal to Sam Stening in the second quarter.
However, the Hoppers quickly hit back with four goals in seven minutes, reducing Collingullie-Wagga's lead to single figures. A goal to Ashton Campbell, only a few minutes out from halftime, had the Demons ahead by 15 points at the main break.
Aided by the breeze again in the third term, the Demons got out to a game-high six goal lead at the 16-minute mark following a goal to Steve Jolliffe. A goal just before three-quarter time to Jack Rudd had the Coolamon a little over five goals adrift at the final change.
Coolamon enjoyed a dream start to the final term with two goals in two minutes through Luke Redfern and Josh Allen. Subsequent goals to Joe Redfern and Rudd then had the Hoppers only six points behind at the 14-minute mark.
With all the momentum and conditions in Coolamon's favour, the Demons needed to win some big moments to hang on for victory.
Noah Harper was sensational in the final stages of the game, as was Lachie Flagg, while Stening took a strong contested grab and slotted his second goal to give the Demons some crucial breathing room.
Gunning for back-to-back premierships Demons co-coach Shane Lenon was delighted his side had won through to another grand final.
"If you're in them, then you give yourself a chance of winning," he said. "We ticked that box and now we get two weeks to prepare and get ourselves in the best shape that we possible can."
In further promising news for the Demons, assistant coach Mitch Maguire completed the running duties as he works his way back from a knee injury suffered a few weeks ago. Source - The Daily Advertiser Monday September 1, 2025.
