Reports: Kris Duncan for verbally abusing umpire Andrew Touvi and failing to front tribunal - 10 game suspension

A summary of match report, with thanks
The Griffith Swans have been knocked out of the Riverina Football League reserve grade finals series after going down by 75 points to Mangoplah-CUE in Narrandera yesterday. Underdogs going into the game, the Swans were no match for the rampant Goannas, who shape as one of the competition favourites. Swans coach Dave Dunbar said the final 14.11 (95) to 2.8 (20) scoreline was indicative of the class between the teams.  “I think they’ll go a long way in the competition,” Dunbar said of Mangoplah. “And that makes the loss a little bit easier to take. “We were a fair way off them, and they were just basically a better side.”

The Swans had a wretched start and found themselves seven goals down at quarter time. Their predicament become more dire in the second term when Kris Duncan was sent from the field for verbally abusing an umpire. Mangoplah exploited its personal advantage, the Goannas keeping the Swans goalless until the final quarter. Despite his team's final exit, Dunbar said the Swans did well to qualify for the play-offs. “It’s a good effort because a lot of teams in our group that play finals also have senior teams playing in the finals,” he said.

“If we can get our first grade up and making the finals, I think we’ll be pretty hard to stop.”  The Swans under 17s also had a loss at the weekend, going down to Wagga 84-54 at Narrandera on Saturday.  But the Swans’ season isn’t over yet, the Griffith side play Turvey Park at Robertson Oval next Sunday.  (By Andrew Piva – The Area News, Monday August 25, 2014).
