GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" September 8, 1990 - No. 21

The most important thing to remember this weekend is our Best and Fairest Count tomorrow evening in the clubrooms commencing at 5pm. A casserole tea will be provided and refreshments available. All players are urged to attend, and all supporters are very welcome.

Well, the day started off brilliantly weather wise and you’d have thought it was summer to see some of the clothing around but alas it didn’t last.

The Seconds had a big win although you’d have thought they were 10 goals behind to hear Kirky at three quarter time. This week will be the tester as to whether or not the Seconds go any further than the elimination final next Saturday. Come on fellas, now is the time – put it in for 4 quarters. The money last week went towards the BBQ, but Brian Rava won the mug.

I think the less said about the Firsts game last week the better. Am sure Les Parish said it all at half time. The backline again held firm, thank God, and the SLPI Award which was last week donated by Shane Best and Les Borland went to Darrell Collins, Robbie Owen, Wayne Botcher and Marty O’Donnell.

The Thirds didn’t play but they were put through a rigorous training session by TB who is determined to take back-to-back premierships.

The Netballers played their last game last week and were defeated. Unfortunately, because of their own netball grand finals in Griffith and work commitments they are unable to field a side today and have forfeited.

Robertson Oval has never been a happy hunting ground to us, however if we have to win today - Tigers are the only team we haven’t beaten and today’s the day.

A reminder that the Presentation Night will be held at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Saturday, 6th October.
