GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 9, 1992 - No. 16

One to forget about last week against Ganmain and make every post a winner from here on. It was only the Netball girls who finished on the right side of the ledger with a good win in A Grade, which keep them in the four, but the balance of the day was no better than the weather – cold.

We played a great first quarter against Ganmain in the Senior, but that was as far as it went as Ganmain was too good for the balance of the day. Lucks a fortune that Gary Argus doesn’t get injured in the matches as he is the only consistent goer we have in the side, week in, week out, while the others take it in turns to get a kick. Greg Dreyer stood out in the back pocket to take the Encouragement Award, sponsored by Greg Wade, while Gerard Toscan, Chris Conlan, Jamie Bennett and Scott Angrove were amongst the money as well.

Reserve Grade went down when it couldn’t match it with Ganmain in the 2nd quarter but came home in the concluding stages when it was all over. Jamie Reid made a welcome return after injury and played well as did the evergreens Darrell Collins and Steve Best. Ian Cohen and James Latham were also solid in defence.

The Under 18's went down, but at least had a full side and Wayne Donetto was the one to stand out from Jamie Reid and Peter Vardanega, and Damien Hill.

The B Grade Netballers were defeated, but not by much as the previous week, but it is good to see the girls getting the second side.

Next Friday is the Trivia Night with $500 prize money and Thommo looking for table numbers today. Also, players to be training on Monday, August 17 as the run will be taken by the living legend Ron Barassi.
