 GRIFFITH CLUB NOTES

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 12, 1996 - No. 1

Welcome to everyone involved with the Griffith Club this season 1996, a season which we all hope will be successful. The Swans would like to congratulate Brian and Mel Corner, Anthony and Rebecca Butcher, Brett and Anne-Marie Davis, and Adrian and Annette Pavese on their weddings over the summer.
Also, to those new parents, Brett and Sue McAlister, Damien and Leanne Scott, and Greg and Rachel Dreyer, we also congratulate you.
Today we start our 1996 campaign under lights against North Wagga. I am sure the three coaches, Phil 'Rowdy' Rowston 1sts, Craig 'Joker' Bretherton 2nds and 'Gorgeous George' Duncan 3rds will have the boys fired up to bring home the bacon.
Also, the Netballers led by the vivacious Karen Conlan are expected to do well and we wish you the best of luck.
To all the new players and supporters, we look forward to your commitment throughout the 1996 season.
To our sponsors we once again thank you for your valued support.
This week's player profile: Phil Rowston. Nickname: Rowdy, Favourite food: Mum's cooking, Favourite drink: Kevin's warm beers after a cold night shooting, Favourite team: Bombers/Swans, Favourite pastime: Washing Dipper and Jamo's socks.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 20, 1996 - No. 2
Riverina Football Record unavailable.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 27, 1996 - No. 3

On what was an excellent day for football the Seniors were under pressure all day after kicking 10 behinds before our first goal. Meanwhile the opposition were able to convert their opportunities and establish a comfortable lead by half-time. Despite a third term revival from Griffith, the Tigers ran away to record a big victory in the final term.
I hope Phil's words after the game did not fall on deaf ears, and I am sure our attitude will be much better this week after a few solid nights on the track. The awards were $100 Trevor (can I hold your hand) Clarke, $50 Jamie Bennett, $30 Mark Brown, $20 Gregory Collins. The Players' Player Mug award went to Trevor Clarke.
The Reserves had a hard-earned victory (the first for a long time) against Wagga Tigers. After establishing an early lead by half time, the Tigers fought back to reduce the deficit to less than a goal by 3/4 time. The Swans produced an outstanding last quarter to win the game in a fine team effort. The awards were $30 Kane Duncan, $20 Malcolm Burke, and $10 Steven Serafin. The Players' Player award went to Damien Hill. Other good players included Patrick Dempsey, Brent Hathaway, Ron Irvin and Aaron (Baa Baa) O'Keefe.
The Under 18's fought hard against all the odds with few players and should be proud of their efforts despite not getting the points. The awards went to Rod Duncan, Peter Hunt and Stuart Davies. Others good players included Shermin Anderson and David Savage. Keep trying hard boys.
Griffith were defeated in both Netball games. A Grade was Griffith 34-44. Best players included Katrina Mardell (in only her 2nd game in 10 years) and Lisa Brand in defence. Kirsty Collis was also much improved in centre court. Whilst B Grade were defeated 12-58. Gabby Bennett worked very hard in a losing team.
Tonight, we play Temora at home under lights. All teams need to work hard to ensure success. We at Griffith thank Temora for accepting our invitation to play under lights, combining Junior and Senior games.
This week's Player Profile: Christian Files.

Nickname: Frogger, Favourite Food: Kahlua and milk, Favourite pastime: Playing indoor cricket at the Gatehouse, Favourite person: Danny Tuohey, Claim to Fame: being Danny's brother.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 4, 1996 - No. 4

In what was a great promotional day of football the Swans had six wins with the only downer for the day being the netball.
The Seniors proved themselves that they are more than capable of playing good, hard football against a quality opposition for 4 quarters. The boys will need to perform just as well this week against an opposition who always, in the words of the not so cranky, this week, senior coach, "seem to grow another leg when they play us". The awards last week were $100 Chris "Elastoplast Man" Conlan, $50 Trevor "I held her hand" Clarke, $30 Jamie Bennett, $20 Mick Smith. The player' player award went to Don Moran.
The Reserve Grade had another good win after a great first half. The awards were $30 Ron "What time does training start" Irvin, $20 Steve Cochrane and $10 Glen Vaccari. The players' player Mug to Patrick Dempsey and the Mugs' Mug to Christian Files.
The Under 18's put it together again and had another good win after a few numbers on the track on Thursday night. Gorgeous George will keep you on your toes when he gets the full squad together. The awards were Rodney Savage, Adam Sara and Dwayne Ashcroft. Other good players were Matt Signor and Rodney Duncan
In Social news I am reliably informed that Brett McAlister will have a social calendar ready for you all soon, so please make sure you all get a copy and support the functions.
The Swans wish Dom Norman a speedy recovery and we hope to see you back out there again soon.
This week's Player Profile - Adrian Pavese.

Nickname: Pig, Favourite Food: BBQ's without the footy boys. Favourite Pastime: Having BBQ's without inviting all the boys along. Favourite Team: Magpies. Worst Moment: When all the boys found out about last Sunday's BBQ. Favourite Drink: Beers, from ashtray shaped glasses in Surfers Paradise!
Also in the Netball, the girls were beaten in both grades, but I believe it was another improved showing, and two wins are not far away.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 12, 1996 - No. 5

After a long trek to Mangoplah, we returned with wins in 1sts & 2nds, with MCU too strong in Under 18's & Netball.
In the main game the Seniors were in control all day and ran out comfortable winners. The awards were $100 Mark Brown, $50 Greg 'Splash' Collins, $30 Trevor 'I held her hand in bed' Clarke and $20 Mathew 'Decore' Cox. The Players' Player Mug went to Mark Brown also, and didn't it get a solid workout.
The 2nds performed reasonably well against a spirited opposition and ran out winners. The awards were $30 Mark McCormack, $10 Steve 'If I keep harping at Fifty, he will play again' Cochrane, and the Mug award went to Patrick 'Sugar Bowl' Dempsey for a fine display.
The Under 18's were undermanned and perhaps struggled because some of the players appeared to suffer car sickness on the long trip. The best players included Stuart Davies, Peter Hunt, Luke Irons, 'Snotty' Schodde, and Rodney Savage. Special mention also goes to Rodney Savage and Nathan Kite for stepping up to help the 2nds.
In Netball, I understand that A Grade were beaten by about 8 goals, with Karen Conlan, Kirsty Collis and Lisa Brand all leading the way. B Grade was also beaten, and I am informed Leanne Scott and Naomi Collis both played well. I hope the netball girls that travelled in the white laser enjoyed their trip to MCU as much as their chauffeur did. His arrival at the ground was certainly worth seeing.
This week's player profile is Tony Butcher.

Nickname: Butch, Favourite food: Rebecca's cooking, Favourite drink: Whatever Rebecca lets me have, Favourite pastime: Unpacking my suitcase after Rebecca has packed it and left it on the doorstep when I am home after a night with the boys, Claim to Fame: With the exception of my scalp and forehead, I am the hairiest man alive.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 19, 1996 - No. 6

A heart-breaking result was the only way to describe the narrow loss to Coolamon in the Seniors. There were many factors that contributed to the final result, not at least of all was the poor kicking. Let's hope this loss does not come back to haunt us later in the year.
The awards were $100 to Matthew "I am not an animal" Cox, $50 Gregory Collins, $30 Steven "Serge Silvagni" Serafin and $20 to Mark "Life without night shift work is so much better" Brown. The players' player Mug was won by Damien Scott.
The Reserves played good football after half time to run out winners. The awards were $30 to Christian "Frogger" Files, $20 Ron "Moose" Irvin and $10 Adrian "BBQ's" Pavise. The players' player Mug was won by David "Digger" Gee and the Mug's Mug by Patrick "Don't call me Patty - it's Demo" Dempsey.
The Under 18's battled hard but were defeated in another reasonably close game. Best players were Stuart Davies, Nathan Kite, Rodney Savage and Rodney Duncan.
In the netball, A Grade was a draw 35-all with Carmen Olney and Rachael Neville both performing well in an even, fast game. The players' player award winner was Carmen Olney. In B Grade, the netballers were defeated 27--44. In a well contested game Griffith played well as a team but Coolamon were too strong. The players' player award was won by Tanya Olney.
This week's Player Profile is on Trevor Clarke.

Nickname: Osborne/Trucker. Favourite Pastime: Holding hands. Favourite Person: The person he holds hands with. Favourite Venue: Anywhere, as long as I can hold hands. Claim to Fame: Holding hands in Wagga 2 weeks ago.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 26, 1996 - No. 7

A terrific win by the Seniors outshone the losses by the 2nds & Under 18's at the Crossroads. The Seniors started off like a bomb and never looked back, running out convincing winners against good opposition. If the boys continue in this manner, they will overcome their 'unpredictableness' and prove a headache to the so-called top sides.
The award winners were $100 Trevor 'I am a glutton for punishment' Clarke, $50 Brent 'Macatmacoat' Hathaway, $30 Mathew 'What are you doing for dinner?' Cox and $20 Jamie 'Jimbob' Bennett. The Players' Player award went to Brent Hathaway.
The 2nds performed dismally and were very lacklustre on the day. Hopefully an effort like that will shake the lethargy out of the guys and get them back on the right track again. The award winners were $30 to Scott 'The card Shark' Lord, $20 to Glen Vaccari and $10 to Scott Collis. The Players' Player went to Damien 'The Desperado' Hill, and the Mugs' Mug went to Glen Vaccari.
The Under 18's took on the competition leaders and battled it out all day against the odds. The best players were Rod Duncan, Michael Tull, Nathan Kite, Adam Sara and David Dunn.
In the netball A Grade had a big win 61-11 with Lisa Brand, Kirsty Collis, Karen Conlan and Rachel Dreyer playing well. Lisa Brand won the Players' Player award. In B Grade the team went down 15-40 with everyone trying hard. The best included Leanne Scott, Tanya Olney, Shakira Ford and Naomi Collis with the Players' Player award going to Shakira Ford.
This week's player profile is Danny Tuohey.

Nickname: Delve/Mutley, Favourite pastimes: Mumbling, arguing with Jeannie Files and hassling Coxy, Most memorable moment: My birthday this year, Best Friend: Smithys' dog 'Spike'.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 2, 1996 - No. 8

It's been a long time since the Seniors and Reserves have beaten Turvey Park on the same day, but last Sunday in front of a vocal Griffith crowd. The Seniors, after the early loss of Danny Tuohey, jumped to an early lead in the first half before staggering a little in the 10 minutes before the main break. A pumped-up Griffith outfit played strong football in the second half, with everyone contributing, to run out convincing winners. Even the President had a smile on his face after the game.
The award winners were $100 to Mark Brown, $50 to "Grinding" Greg Collins, $30 to Jamie "Speedy" Bennett and $20 to Brent Harrison. The players' player award went to Mark Brown. Other good players were Phil Rowdy" Rowston, Don "Duck" Moran and Damien Scott.
The Reserves returned to the winners list with a good win against Turvey Park. The boys must keep working hard to continue the winning ways. The awards winners were $30 Matthew "Next Friday night" Kenny, $20 Andy "Put in on the bar" McCashney and $10 Mark "From Ariah Park" McCormack. The players' player award went to "How crook do I look" Lord and the Mug's Mug to Colin "What was I doing at the end of the night" Cassidy. Adam Baulch also performed well before being injured.
The Under 18's battled hard against a much bigger Turvey Park outfit but were defeated. The best players were Stuart Davies, Adam Sara, Nathan King, Dwayne Ashcroft and David Savage.
The Netballers did not play; however, they have a double header today.
In Social news on Sunday 9th June (after the GGGM Saturday night game) see the social night event of the year when Phyllis Rowston marries (?) Skye Evans. Invitations are available from Brett McAlister, Greg Collins, Gabby Bennett and Co. Please make sure we all celebrate this great occasion.
This week's Player Profile is on Dean Jamieson.

Nickname: Jamo/Ginger. Favourite Food: BBQ's Lambs brains. Favourite Drink" Beer, very early in the morning. Favourite Pastime" Denying everything, including the truth. Person Habits: Wearing everyone else's underwear and socks before using his own.
Best of luck to Owen Geddes and Kim Barber and look forward to having a Jimmy and Coke with you both afterwards.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 8, 1996 - No. 9

Yet again our Senior side performed "well enough" to silence the knockers and defeat EW-K by a tidy 11 goals. I wonder if this was the worst the Hawks have played in the last ten years. Anyway, it was good to see the Seniors hod a nine-goal lead at half time. It was also good to see so many Griffith supporters make the journey to Wagga - the Senior must be doing something right.
The awards were $100 to Trevor "I don't care what you say about me holding hands" Clarke, $50 to Mick "the debarked terrier" Smith, $30 to Jamie "the Shark" Bennett and $20 to Matthew "Watch out Trucker" Bunn. The players' player award was also won by Trevor Clarke. Other good players included Brian "The Freak" Stanislaus and Don "I really am a good CHB" Moran.
The 2nds worded hard to hold off a fast-finishing Hawk team. A good effort and keep working hard at training guys and the positive results will continue! The awards were $30 to Andrew "Do you really want me to play this week" McCashney, $20 to David "I'm sorry you can't come in" Gee, and $10 to Greg "Welcome back" Dreyer. The players' player award went to Mark ""Have a drink with the boys" McCormack and the Mugs' Mug to Glen "The Growler" Vaccari.
Gorgeous George's boys battled hard all day to go down by 2 points in an enthralling contest. Best players were Rod Duncan, Paul Kite, Peter Hunt, Marc Forster and Michael Tull.
The Netball girls played a double-header. In the A Grade we beat Turvey Park 46-44 in a R7 game, but EWK beat us 26-38 in Rd 8. A good team effort against Turvey, whilst Katrina Mardell, Kirsty Collis and Rachael Dreyer were the best against EWK. The players' player award was won by Karen Evans.
In B Grade we beat EWK 31-27. Tanya Olney, Stacy Harrison and Tracy Burke were the best players. Turvey defeated us in the other game.
In Social news, don't forget the Mock Wedding being held tomorrow at 7 pm. Cost is $15 including a meal and the opportunity to see the senior coach (and many others) in drag. What a pity Danny Files isn't here - the big fella would have loved it.
I'm sure everyone at the club would also like to congratulate Phil Rowston, Don Moran, Brian Stanislaus and Trevor Clarke in making the RFL rep squad. Well done and best of luck guys.
This week's Player Profile is Michael "Dipper" Reid.

Age: Just turned 23. Favourite Drink: Beer. Favourite Food: Kicking goals this year and eating spaghetti cooked by Jamo, washing up after Jamo, lending my socks and underwear to Jamo. Most Memorable Moment: Inviting Danny Files and Scotty Collis back to my place for a party last year.
On a final note, the boys would also like to thank Derek Forner for purchasing a new "Gatehouse" for the players late night festivities to take place. This should take some of the pressure off Glen Smith on Sunday nights. Now Derek, all we need is the address.

On a good old-fashioned day for football at Narrandera, the Swans ran out winners in 1st& 2nds, but were defeated in Under 18's.
In Firsts, we went to an early lead in heavy conditions before Narrandera staged a stirring comeback. Griffith withstood the challenge however and ran out 18 point winners. The awards were $100 to Mark "JYD" Brown, $50 to Matthew "The girls favourite" Bunn, $30 to Jamie "anyone for coits" Bennett and $20 to Matthew "Manuel" Cox. The players' player ward was also won by Mark Brown. Other good players included Den "Ginger" Jamieson, Mick "The Terrier" Smith and Trevor "It must be love, love, love" Clarke.
The 2nds played very well in a good team effort. The award winners were $30 to Tony "The Pitbull Terrier" Butcher, $20 to Aron "' Only 3 weeks before Coxy leaves" O'Keefe, $10 to Scott "Are you going to Fatty's 21st Joker?" Collis. The players' player award was won by Adam "Murine" Baulch and the Mugs' Mug by Richard "I still want that Kangaroo" Telfer.
The Under 18's put up a spirited performance before being defeated. It was an improved showing guys., but you still have to get to training and get behind George. The best players were Rodney Savage, Rodney Duncan, Stuart Davies, Marc Forster and Norm Campbell.
I do not have the Netball report this week, but I do know the A Grade were defeated 46-40, as was B Grade 73-18.
In Social news the Games and Cocktails night is on July 20 at Exies Sports Club starting at 8 pm. Please make sure we all attend to make this another great night. In other news anybody with any car batteries they no longer want please see Ian Wade as he recycles these, with the money raised returned to the club. Good to see young Mark Wade playing for the Sydney Swans Little League today. I am sure he will give a good account of himself (we are a little worried about Sam however).
This week's Players Profile is on Scott Lord.

Nickname: The Shark. Favourite Pastime: Being late for football training, making excuses for not attending football training, doing weekly stock takes, annoying Brett McAlister. Favourite Place: The gutter and nature strip outside Chris and Karen Conlan's house, anywhere there is sheep, anywhere other than football training. Thoughts on Football: Should be more training camps and more card nights, we should try and get more sheep involved in the game. Thoughts on Rowdy's training sessions: No comment - haven't been to enough. Thoughts on Chris Conlan's nature strip: A very pleasant place to be after a hard training camp.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 14, 1996 - No. 14

A Grade netballers were defeated while B Grade did not play. On the social scene do not forget the 'Games and Cocktails' night next Saturday after the Temora game, commencing at 8 pm at the Exies Sports Club. All players to be there and all supporters are welcome to attend.
On a sad note, after many aborted attempts, one of our favourite sons goes overseas on Monday. As many may know Mathew Cox is heading overseas and all at the Club wish him the best.
The Griffith Swans Badge Draw will start selling today so see 'Joker' or the players for tickets.
On a final note, congratulation to Matthew Olney for making the NSW State side for the Under 18's National Championship. Also to those ladies who made the representative netball side in the series of matches played over the last few weeks. Last but not least congratulations also go to those Under 11's boys who will play in the Little League at the MCG soon. Well done boys and enjoy the day.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 20, 1996 - No. 15
Another thriller at home against Wagga Tigers saw the points unfortunately go the wrong way. A couple of lapses and errors at the wrong time gave the Tiger enough breathing space to hold against fast finishing Swans.
This loss makes sure every game from now on more important in our quest for a top three finish so switch on.
The awards in the Seniors were the players' player award & $100 to Greg "The Dinosaur" Collins, $50 to Chris "That is my trip away deposit" Conlan, $30 to Dean "Just get them off with diesel" Jamieson and $20 to Scott "Training is at 6.30 tonight, isn't it?" Lord. Other good players included Damien "Powerball" Scott and Daniel "Mutley" Tuohey. It was also sad to see Matthew Cox a little "crabby" after his farewell game.

I do not have a Netball report this week. Come on ladies, get your act together and get the score sheets in.
Tonight we have the "Games and Cocktails" night at the Exies Sports Club. Semi formal dress is a must. Activities kick off at 8 pm - all welcome so please support the club.

The Player Profile this week is on Don Moran.
Nickname: Duck. Favourite Pastimes: Talking while Rowdy is talking at training, feeding Bails McDonald, letting Tim Fraser look after Bails, pretending to be a builder. Ambition: To have a bigger and faster ute than mine. Something like Glen Collis or something louder than Pluggers would be great. Most Memorable Moment: Discovering a Pandoras box one year while on holidays and opening it up.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 28, 1996 - No. 16
On a wet and cold day at Temora, Griffith was defeated by a very hungry home team on a very heavy Temora ground. It is now crunch time boys, so let's get behind Phil and make every post a winner from now on. Let the critics write us off, but let's make sure our actions support our words.
In the Seniors the award winners were $100 to Mark 'Good Header' Brown, $50 to Patrick 'The wily old campaigner' Dempsey, $30 to Danny 'Do you really want me to run over there?' The Players' Player went to 'The Mallee Bull' Burke and the Mugs Mug to Michael 'Can't  train, I'm away this week' Reid.
Many thanks to Rodney Duncan and Stuart Davies for backing up from the Under 18's to help out the 2's. Well done. The Under 18's had a good win to put a smile on George's face. GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 3, 1996 - No. 17

In what is best described as a real slog at Kindra Park we came away with the points after a fine team effort in the 1sts. The next four weeks leading up to the finals are cut throat, so let's make sure we give ourselves the best opportunity to finish as high as we can by winning today. The Under 18's battled hard but were overwhelmed by a strong opposition. The best players were Rodney Duncan, David Savage, Peter Hunt, Michael Tull and Michael Elliott.
I am sure that everyone that attended the Trivia Night had a great time. It was good to see Big Splash hand over the baton to a young up and comer in Michael Tull in the skulling stakes. It was also good to know that everyone knows why Dean Jamieson is called Ginger.
All our supporters should note that the money raised from the raffle today will be donated to the Kalinda School. The kids will be photographed with the senior players as well as being provided with a BBQ and drink. Many thanks and appreciation goes to Agnes Geddes for the donation of today's raffle prize, it is much appreciated so let's all dig deep to support the kids at Kalinda.
Commiserations also go out to Richard Telfer and Phil Rowston. Let's hope both of you can overcome the serious illness/injuries that have hit at the wrong end of the season and get back before the finals are over.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 18, 1996 - No. 19
The battle for third spot continues with a thrilling draw against Collingullie. It was a see-sawing tussle with both teams appearing to be in control at various stages. This result makes the next three games even more important in the battle for 3rd position, and we must keep on winning to give ourselves a chance.
The Senior awards were $100 to Gregory "The Goalkicking Dinosaur" Collins, $50 to Matthew Olney, $30 to Brent "Mr Cool" Harrison, and $20 to Michael "Teddy" Smith. The players player award was won by Greg Collins and kindly donated to the birthday boy, Mick Smith.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 25, 1996 - No. 20
A cold and dismal day at Maher Oval produced the wrong result for the Seniors after a good start. Undisciplined let Turvey Park back into the game and from then on we didn't give a whimper. Things must change as that sort of effort is not good enough. We all want the pats on the back when things are going well, so how about taking the responsibility when things are not. Stand up and be counted today against EWK and make sure we consolidate our spot in the five.
The Senior awards were $100 to Tony "The Pocket Dynamo" Butcher, $50 to Matthew "Dougy" Olney, $30 to Dean "It's been 12 months now" Jamieson, and $20 to Matthew "Who's driving tonight" Bunn. The players' player award was convincingly won by Tim "Barge" Fraser. Congratulations also go to Tim Fraser and Joe Agresta on playing their 50th senior game against Turvey Park.
The 2nds were made to work hard to get the 4 points and secure the minor premiership. Well done boys on this achievement. Let's make sure we keep ongoing. The awards were $30  to Glen "Club 58" Smith, $20 to Greg " He with the biggest watch band in the club" Dreyer and the $10 to Brett "What night is training this week" McAlister. The players' player award was won by Adam "The Astronaut" Baulch and the Mugs' Mug was won by David "Mr Mom" Gee.
The Under 18's battled away against a bigger and strong Turvey side for little result. The best players were Stuart Davies, Rodney Duncan, Peter Hunt, Stephen Mitchell and Paul Kite.
Congratulations go out to Steve Cunial on reaching the 50 reserve grade games milestone. Well done Steve.
Commiserations go to the Under 15's who were beaten in the grand final last week.
Thgere will be a meeting held next Friday for those of you that are interested in helping the club do the catering for the qualifying final at Narrandera. There will be an announcement at today's game about the meeting.
This week's Player Profile is on Tim Fraser.

Nicknames: Super, Fras, Barge, The Big Fella. Favourite Pastime: Bagging other people, talking about myself, selecting the senior side, barracking for my beloved Magpies. Most Admired Person: Gino, the bloke dancing with Ffiona at Club 500. Career Highlights: Living with the senior coach. Thoughts on Football: Everyone, especially me, should be allowed to play in the forward line. Scariest Moment in Football: Having my character questioned by a prominent full forward from a neighbouring club - and I didn't let fear hold me back.

GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" September 1, 1996 - No. 21
It was a strange game of football. A 20-point half time lead was soon surpassed by a hungry East Wagga-Kooringal, leaving us needing a win today at Ganmain to continue on into the finals next week. It is a simple enough equation to understand - so let's make sure we get it right.
The Senior awards were $100 and the players' players award to Trevor "I refuse to answer that question on the basic that I might incriminate myself" Clarke, $50 to Tony "The Flea" Butcher, $30 to Brent "The one-armed Bandit" Harrison, and $20 to Mick "Watch out Melbourne" Smith.
The 2nds were beaten by a desperate EW-K. It is time a few of the guys started making it happen again instead of relying on someone else to do it. The awards were $30 to Malcolm "the water baby" Burke, $20 to Brent "Who was in the next room" Hathaway and $10 to Mark " Mr Winfield Blue" McCormack. The players' player award was won by Aaron "The La Scala Kid" O'Keefe and the Mugs' Mug was won by Glen "Little Growler" Vaccari.
The Under 18's had a tremendous win and it was great to see some of the guys really enjoy it. Let's see if we can finish off the season with another win today. Best players in a good team effort were Stuart Davies, Shermin Anderson, Rodney Duncan, and Rodney Savage. Thanks to Bill Kite, Graeme Olney and George Duncan for your hard work with the 18's this season. Also thanks to all the guys who have stuck it out during the year.
On the Social scene please do not forget that the B&F vote count for each grade will be held tonight at the Mirrool Room at the main club. Can we have all players and as many supports as possible attend. Commences at 7 pm. The Presentation Night will be held on 11th October. Tickets will available soon.
Do not forget that we have the ground catering on Saturday 7th September at Narrandera. If you wish to help and have not advised Greg Wade, please do so.
This week's Player Profile is on Glen Collis.

Nicknames: Rocky, Collo. Favourite Pastime: Driving fast, loud, mean looking cars. Ambition in Life: To have a louder ute than Aaron Poole, to have a bigger bullbar than Matthew Bunn, to do more circle work than Phil Rowston and to drive faster than Rick Burdett on the way home after football or Trevor Clarke after a night out. Football Idol: Don Moran because even though he is a little long in the tooth, he is still really a rev-head at heart.
