Match report: Following up their opening round success, Collingullie-Wagga Demons, won their second match of the Riverina League season on Saturday, when they succeeded in easily downing Griffith Swans at Exies Oval. It was a game where the premier team of the competition for the past two seasons had nothing to do but bombard Griffith's goal, which they did to some purpose, passing the goal line 35 times to Griffith's 15. The local team took the field without their coach Jack Rowston (laid up with a calf injury). Of last season notable players missing were Ollie Bartter (temporarily laid aside by a minor "hiccup"), Mason Ashcroft (sore finger) while Billy Evans (was playing golf at Geelong). The visitors even though they have lost a good number of stars still have got together another good team this season and one looks upon the Demons as possessing an even money chance for final five contenders.
Though both teams showed a little over-eagerness in the first quarter, Griffith even showing promise of a close fight, scored 1.3 to Collingullie 3.2. The superiority of the Demons was proved from the second quarter by a score of 7.2, Griffith, having only three scoring shots, in securing their only goal, had to face the alarming minority of 47 points at half time. In the last two quarters respectively Collingullie added 6.4 to 2.4, and 7.4 to 1.1. The better team unquestionably won by the overwhelming majority of 110 points, but Griffith are young and enthusiastic lot, who are likely to improve with increased experience. COYS.

Umpires: Craig Tilston and _____ (RUA)
Match report: As neither, Griffith or Leeton-Whitton had won a game, and presumably were playing a similar standard of football, a good game was expected when these local rivals met at Exies Oval for their Anzac Day clash under lights. Griffith made five changes in the team that did battle with Collingullie-Wagga the previous Saturday. Tully, Mitchell, Whitworth, Ashcroft and James Forwood replacing Shepherd, Armanini, Collins, Spiers and Bullus. The only change in the visitors side was GWS Giants academy's Tallis McMillan for Saranjeet Singh.
The Crows won all the way, skipper Tom Meline, won the toss and kicked to the northern end in the first quarter, piled up a handy lead 3.2 to 0.4, then added 3.3 to 1.2 in the second quarter and thereafter it was a stern chase for Griffith, 31 points down at half-time. In the third quarter the red and whites put up 3 goals 7 behinds to 1.1, and made a better fight of it, attacking strongly at the finish with Charlie Cunial booting two goals entering time-on. On the play, Swans should have bridged the gap but they were still 11 points down at the end of that quarter. The last quarter was a desperate struggle for supremacy which saw both sides looking weary. Griffith made one or two desperate attempt but they gradually fell away before the finish. Within two minutes of time remaining, a goal scored by Jye Doyle increased, Crows winning margin to 21 points. Individually, there was very little between the two teams, but the victors did things better together at some time or another. Whether from want of training or otherwise, the Swans have lacked finishing in the last two matches. Time after time, Griffith followers led by Nathan Richards forwarded the ball into good position, on Saturday, but Crows sturdy defence simply brushed aside the feeble opposition. For the winners Jye Doyle was awarded the ANZAC Medal for the best on ground player. COYS.

Match report: Although Griffith welcomed back rookie-coach Jack Rowston and Ollie Bartter, they were no match for Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong on the Ganmain ground. GGGM started the game with success, which suggested the probability of an exercise gallop at Griffith's expense, two goals been rattled up by Dan Foley before the Swans got on the scoreboard with a goal to Luke DeMamiel. At the first change of ends GGGM led by 26 points, but the second quarter was GGGM best, and in this they succeeded in scoring 7.4 to nil, leaving the Lions 72 points ahead at half time. The Swans best quarter was the third, in which they stove pluckily to reduce their opponents lead, but GGGM, holding a distinct advantage gained 3.5. to nil. The third quarter's effort, however, had settled Griffith, who were unable to offer any further resistance to their forceful opponents. Lions held undisturbed possession of the game all though the last quarter, and, putting on 4.2 to 1.1, they scored an easy victory by 111 points. The result emphasised the previously demonstrated fact of the season Ganmain-GGM have come on, while Griffith have not as yet, but in this match the latter, though defeated, were by no means disgraced. Match report: Despite the admitted improvement in the Griffith team, they cannot win a game, and on Saturday at Narrandera Sportsground another defeat was added to their long and dispiriting record of adversity. The Swans started off well, kicking 3.2 to 2.1 in the first quarter, but were badly beaten in the second, in which Narrandera pressing them hard and unceasingly, added 4.2, while Griffith scored 1.3. In the third quarter Narrandera showed to further advantage, adding 6 points to their lead, and although Griffith made a gallant effort to change the fortunes of the day in the last quarter, Narrandera never looked in danger of defeat, and won their second game of the season by 13 points. Both sides missed lots of chances, but on the whole the winners played the more consistent game, and deserved to win. COYS

Match report: Although Griffith, at Exies Oval on Saturday sustained their fifth consecutive defeat, they put up one of their best games they have played this season. The Swans trailed Mangoplah by 12 points in the first quarter, and although at half time they were 40 points behind, they came again in the third quarter, added 2.0 to 2.6, and at the last change of ends were trailing by 46 points. The last quarter simply astounded the onlookers, Mangoplah playing an irresistible game, running rings round Griffith, who were only able to add 1.1 to 9.4. In every part of the field the home side were outplayed, and as the Goannas successfully sustained the attack and piled on the goals, local enthusiasm became uninterested. COYS.

Match report: The vast disparity between the two teams was evidenced by the play from first quarter to last, Griffith never having the glimpse of a look in. They played up a bit in the first quarter but Turvey Park playing well together and showing superiority in running and kicking, had a commanding lead of 40 points at halftime. It was in the third quarter that proved fatal for Griffith, who in vain attempted to hold in check the Bulldogs, who added 8.4 to 3.4. Contrary, however, to their experience of the previous Saturday the visitors finished well, putting on 3.3 to 4.3 in the last quarter, which gave Turvey Park a win by 76 points were a fair indication of the merits of the respective sides. Match report: The opening quarter indicated the probability of a good match, when the visitors caused something like a sensation - and not a pleasant one from the Kindra Park locals point of view, the Swans holding the Hoppers goalless for 15 minutes of play. A quarter gone found Coolamon only gaining a lead of two goals, 2.1 to 0.1. The home side, however, left no doubt about their real ability in the second quarter, in which they scored 10.3 to 1.1. and played a game as superior as the figures indicate. It was very evident that Griffith never had a chance, and though Coolamon eased a bit after half time, they continued to score additional goals, and wound up with an impressive victory of 125 points - 21.10 to 1.5.
