SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record August 14, 1999 - No.18

THE game started off poorly with the pre-game withdrawal of three senior players from the selected team. Despite this the guys battled hard in difficult conditions but were not good enough. It was certainly an improved effort under the difficult circumstances and let's continue that improvement tonight under lights.

The awards in the Seniors were sponsored by Les Wildsmith. The Exies Dinner was won by miserly contender Daniel "Motley" Tuohey who was outstanding all day, the Snuggle Inn towel was won by the on-baller Tony "The Silent Assassin" Butcher who never gave up, the Warren Lowry voucher was won by dashing defender Damien "The Wily defender" Scott who repelled many Turvey Park attacking moves, and the McNabb award was won by hard running utility Myles "the boy from Goolgowi" Bunn.

The Reserve Grade played with 15 and certainly were not disgraced in difficult circumstances. Thank you to those Under 18s who backed up to make up the 15, and to all those guys who made the effort to travel. The Players' Player Mug and Billabong Bottle Shop award was won by utility Dean "Denzi" Jamieson who was at the bottom of every pack all day. The Warren Lowry voucher was won by the robust defender Scott "Plugger" Collis who worked hard, and the Griffith Laundry Service award was won by backman Justin "Dirty" Barry who was solid in defence.

The shining light of the day was the come from behind win by the Under 18's who got the four points by the slenderest of margins after a titanic struggle. It was a top effort in the conditions and a real gutsy display. Well done boys, keep up the good work today and we might just grab top spot at the business end of the season. The C & P Express JDs Pizza award was won by Under 16's midfielder Dom Giorgi with a top game, the Trevor Harrison towel was won by another Under 16's player in Luke Condon who was also terrific, and the Lowes Socks were won by ruckman Scott Rawle.

We welcome everyone tonight to the Exies Sports Club after the game for an ale or two and a bit of a bop. Do not forget about the $1000 reverse draw on Sunday. $20 per ticket includes food and drink from 2 pm at the Exies Sports Club. Anyone interested in going on the Mystery Bus Trip after the (Mango) game please ring Kelly Ruyg today.
