SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record June 26, 1999 - No.11

AFTER an extremely slow start (against East Wagga-Kooringal), the Seniors fought back into the game eventually to hold the lead at 3/4 time. Unfortunately made the most of their opportunities a little better than us, but it was terrific to see the us never gave in and continued to keep fighting back in the final term when the game looked over. Our starts seem to be the problem every week and we cannot continue giving away leads to opposition teams at quarter time an expect to win.

The awards were sponsored by the Swans Past Players Club, and we thank them for that. The Exies Dinner was won by the trendy defender Shayne "I have finally found the woman for me" Driscoll with a solid game in defence, the Snuggle Inn Towel was won by Captain/Coach Paul "The Magician" Eyles with 8 goals, the McDonalds Voucher was won by the ever-reliable Paul "The gym junkie" Brasier in defence, and the McNabb Fuel Voucher was won by youngster Shane "Chopper" Russell with a top game at centre half back.
The Reserves played a four solid quarters of football and ran out winners in a close finish against a top five team. It was a top effort and the improvement in attitude off the field was certainly on the field. The Players' Player Mug and Billabong Bottle Shop was won by the surprise ruckman Simon "I am not an animal" Spiers with a top game, the McDonalds Award was won by the ever reliable on baller Tony "The Machine" Butcher with a first-class effort in the centre, and the Griffith Laundry Service Award was won by the hard running backman David "Cracker" Dunn with a good display.
The Under 18s again had another solid win and continue their push for an end of season top three finish. The C & P Express JDs Pizza was won by big man Rick Frkovic with a top game, the McDonalds was won by under 16 player Jamie Kite, and the Lowes Socks were won by little man Ben Ford who has been consistent after returning from injury.
On the social scene thanks to those who attended, donated and purchased goods at the Dutch Auction. All players and supporters are invited to the Cocktail Party and Horse Racing Evening at the Exies Sports Club tonight. $5 (under 18 free) entry includes gambling money. A variety of cocktails will be available from the bar. Plenty of prizes to be auctioned at the end of the night so let's all make the effort to get back to the club tonight and have a top evening.
