GRIFFITH NOTES: "The Aussie Ruler" August 30, 1970 - No. 20
By Swan: Although we did not get the points, we shared the honours in a close, hard-fought game at Coolamon last Sunday and the four points defeat did nothing but boost our morale.
In a good team effort Sid Robins, John Foley and Bob Prenzel rated as our most valuable players.
The Seconds had an easy win to end as minor premiers while the Thirds, although defeated by a bolstered team, retained second place.
All three teams are in the finals, the First in the first semi and the Seconds and Thirds in second semi and we know all will prove worthy premiership contenders.
Congratulations to Alan Hayes, Michael O'Mara and Ron Shuttleworth on their League best and fairest awards and also too our top vote getters in respective competitions, Sid Robins, David Simmons and Steve Bicego.
Congratulations also to John Kew on his win of the Air India-Daily News trip to Fiji award.
"Kewie" over a long and worthy career, has put a lot into the game and it is fitting that as he nears the end of his career, he should get some worthwhile reward.
