AT GRIFFITH SWANS PAST HOME MEETINGS WITH TURVEY PARK BULLDOGS

ON Saturday at the Exies Oval, Griffith welcome Turvey Park for the 72nd meeting between the two clubs, a series which began on May 16, 1956, a 5th round clash of South West League football. It has to be said that the League's newcomers had the better of things that Sunday afternoon, going home with a one-point victory 63-62. The Bulldog's win was mainly due to the seven goals kicked by their new coach Ray Scott, a champion WAFL goal kicker recruited from West Perth.

In fact, it took the men in red and white five matches to get the better of Bulldogs on the Griffith Showground.
Griffith: — Charlie O'Brien, Geoff Habel, Don Buchanan; Wally Price (c-c), Vic Ledwidge, Frank Conlan; Vince O'Dwyer, John Conlan, Kevin McMahon; Jim Fielder, Frank Carroll, Don Guest; Bill Tyndall, Don Bitcon, Noel Tyndall; Bill Biron, Don Maples, Vic Hathaway; Don Hurst, Bruce Cobden.
Turvey Park: — Geoff Nye, Jim Neighbour, Bob Stockton; Don Baker, Bob Thomson, Ron Langridge; Trevor McNamara, John Nolan, Noel Morrow; Neil Stockton, Rex Burge, Lou Cox; F. Sherriff, Ray Scott (c-c), Chic Baker; Peter Murphy, John Schieberger, Norm McLennan; N. McKay, K. Turner.
The two clubs have been great rivals over the years, but Griffith had the Indian sign over Turvey Park in recent football campaigns.
