Match report - Swans on Screen: There was a good attendance of Hopper supporters at Kindra Park on Saturday, but very clearly, few of the Griffith people took much interest in it. It was a match of more importance to Griffith than Coolamon, for a win would have placed the visitors even with the Hoppers, and left Turvey Park with still further ground to make up. The Swans took the field without Kahlan Spencer (injured ankle), while last week's fill-ins Blake Aloisi, Tom Jamieson and Graham Tully making way for the four Sydney based footballers. There was nothing of note in the opening quarter, except that Griffith missed a few more chances of scoring whereas Coolamon had a goal the better of it. All through the second and third quarter Griffith kept going, with the Hoppers always a little bit ahead, and that was really a characteristic carried right up till the visitors hit the front. The last quarter was fast and exciting and for a long time neither side could make much impression. There was yet 12 minutes to play remaining when Griffith finally got in front, Charlie Cunial, a good man for the emergency slammed home his fourth goal for the game. The eighth goal for Griffith resulted from a brilliant effort on the part of Mason Rosengreen, with a dashing run, eluded two opponents, then bounced off the point post, and drove the ball through. A few moments later James Girdler smartly picked up the ball and booted the ninth goal. It became a desperate struggle then, the Swans bench being wildly excited. In the last five minutes Coolamon attacked with great determination but could not score a goal, and a good match ended in a 13-point victory for the Swans. (By Trevor Harrison).
