Match report - Swans on Screen: Collingullie-Wagga Demons showed Griffith their strength as a grand finalist team when they defeated them, 116 to 65 at Exies Oval on Saturday. Poor "Drip Tray" Dreyer and his boys had no counter for the 'Gullie' approach to goal.  After this display, the 'Gullie' boys must rate as favorites for the flag. The duel between Nathan Richards and Jamie Mooney was well worth seeing as these two giants opposed each other and we saw the best ruck play for many a long day. Our boy Richards came out slightly on top. The first quarter was nothing short of sensational as both sides went in hard, played the ball at all times, and gave a good exhibition in almost ideal football conditions. Griffith went to an early lead with goals to Tom Trevaskis and Charlie Cunial but Collingullie, with goals to Sam Stening and Ed Perryman fought their way back into the game. At quarter time Collingullie led by four points which was an exciting opening to what was to prove a game of first-class value. The second quarter saw Collingullie gain a 24-point break this was possibly due to a lapse of concentration by Griffith as the visitors piled on five goals in quick time. The Swans lost their early accuracy in the third quarter, adding two behinds as they applied the pressure. However, Collingullie steadied after a momentary lapse by adding five goals to three and by three quarter time they led by 39 points. At the end of the game Collingullie had pulled away from Griffith in the dying stages to win by 51 points. Griffith had very few clear winners - apart from Richards, I thought Kahlan Spencer was easily our next best player, James Girdler and Willem Vaessen shone out at times while Oliver Bartter played aggressively and well early on until the Demons Kane Flack and Ed Perryman took control of the centre from quarter time onwards. Charlie Cunial, playing his 100th game, also turned in a good performance and I would like to take the opportunity on behalf of myself and all in congratulating him on reaching the coveted "century". (By Trevor Harrison - Sunday June 15, 2024).
