Match report - Swans on Screen: The game, which took place on the Griffith Exies Oval, resulted in a win for the home team over their old rivals, Narrandera Imperial by 14.18 (102) to 8.6 (54). There was hardly any wind, the ground was in good order, there was only a moderate attendance as there was not much interest in the game outside the supporters of either team.
There was, of course, only one result expected from the meeting between the sides, and Griffith were naturally so confident of success that they decided to give some of their travelling players a rest, the players standing out being such celebrities as Tom Baxter, Riley Lucas, Heath Northey and Tommy Tyson, while local lad Ollie Bartter stood out of the Griffith team owing to a two match suspension received for dumping a Bulldog player to the ground the previous Saturday afternoon. The new players they tried were junior players Blake Aloisi and Tom Jamieson, Gaelic footballer Graham Tully, from St. Mary's GFC, Donore, Co. Meath, while regulars Tom Powell and Broden Spencer made welcome returns. Throughout the game the young undermanned Narrandera side held their own manfully, though they always had the sense of superior odds stacked against them and fighting a hopeless battle.
Griffith got to work early and had scored 4.5 (29) by the end of the first term, while Narrandera were limited to 1.2 (8). In the second quarter the lead blew out to an eight-goal margin when Billy Evans slammed home his fourth goal at the 13th minute. The away side after looking completely out of the hunt brightened up there play as half-time approached, kicking the last two goals of the term to trail by 39 points, 3.3 to 8.12. The best football of the day was shown in the third term, where it was goal for goal for a while. Charlie Cunial, Powell, Evans and James Girdler scoring goals for the Swans, while Matt Dillon, Harvey Odgers, Blake Renet, by clever play and Edward Puruntatameri-Dunn scoring for the Eagles. At the last change Griffith had 12.12 to 7.5. There is no need to dwell on the last quarter, which ended with the Swans in full control. They put on 2 goals 6 behinds to 1 goal 1 behind.
