GRIFFITH SWANS SPONSOR BOMBSHELL - By Jack Luhrs

WHILE making a substantial donation to the Griffith Swans at their annual presentation dinner on Saturday night, Managing Director of Owen Toyota, Mr. Lester Owen, said the general down-turn in the motor industry had forced his company to withdraw their sponsorship.
Mr. Owen was speaking to about 130 guests and members of the Griffith Australian Football Club during the presentation dinner at the Ex-Servicemen's Club. He said the effects of fringe benefits tax and other factors had caused a substantial drop in vehicle sales. Owen Toyota has supported the Swans for the past two seasons and their contribution has been considerable. Mr. Owen and his wife Beverley, Mr. Noel and Mrs. Joan Hicks and Mr. Grant and Mrs. Patricia Henderson, were chief guests of honour at the dinner. Mr. Henderson was representing the Riverina Football League where he is RFL vice-president.
