GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 2, 1996 - No. 8

It's been a long time since the Seniors and Reserves have beaten Turvey Park on the same day, but last Sunday in front of a vocal Griffith crowd. The Seniors, after the early loss of Danny Tuohey, jumped to an early lead in the first half before staggering a little in the 10 minutes before the main break. A pumped-up Griffith outfit played strong football in the second half, with everyone contributing, to run out convincing winners. Even the President had a smile on his face after the game.
The award winners were $100 to Mark Brown, $50 to "Grinding" Greg Collins, $30 to Jamie "Speedy" Bennett and $20 to Brent Harrison. The players' player award went to Mark Brown. Other good players were Phil Rowdy" Rowston, Don "Duck" Moran and Damien Scott.
The Reserves returned to the winners list with a good win against Turvey Park. The boys must keep working hard to continue the winning ways. The awards winners were $30 Matthew "Next Friday night" Kenny, $20 Andy "Put in on the bar" McCashney and $10 Mark "From Ariah Park" McCormack. The players' player award went to "How crook do I look" Lord and the Mug's Mug to Colin "What was I doing at the end of the night" Cassidy. Adam Baulch also performed well before being injured.
The Under 18's battled hard against a much bigger Turvey Park outfit but were defeated. The best players were Stuart Davies, Adam Sara, Nathan King, Dwayne Ashcroft and David Savage.
The Netballers did not play; however, they have a double header today.
