GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 3, 1997 - No. 18

The Seniors started well with an eight goal first term, and they continued on in the same manner for the rest of the game winning every quarter in a much-improved performance. The intensity show in this effort must be repeated each week.  The non-contracted players awards were $130 to Ray "Piggy" Willis, $70 to Gary "Man" Argus, $50 to Danny "Freak" Baxter, $30 to Chris "Barbarian" Conlan and $20 to Tony "Captain Snooze" Mahar. Other good players included Alphonse and Pedro Pavey.
The Reserves played well to record a good win. The Bertoldos Bakery bet player awards were $30 to Danny "Mumbles" Tuohey, $20 to David "Bartlett" Gee and $10 to Patrick "Grumpy" Dempsey. The players' player award went to Matthew "Ribs" Kenny and the Mugs' Mug went to Matthew "Marion" Hosking. The McDonalds/Griffith Coaches award went to Colin "Superboot" Cassidy. Good to see "Jacko" Lord in fine form with 5 scintillating goals in the pocket.
The Under 18's had a big win to keep them in touch with the top three. The best players, among many, were Michael Elliott, David Dunn, Michael Tull, Rodney Duncan and Rodney Simpkin.
Thank you to all those who attended the Games Night and the Trivia Night and thank you also to the organisers and those business houses that donated prizes for these nights. A top time had by all. Please do not forget the Dutch Auction next week after Turvey Park.
