GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 4, 1986 - No. 4

Well Leeton Showground certainly saw some antics last weekend as the Swans left more devastation than a Russian Nuclear Plant. Fired up by centreman Neil Bruce, Martin O'Donnell and Gerard Toscan the Swans swooped then swamped the Redlegs. Whilst the handball and running game was good some players looked like Kings Cross Princesses instead of moving with the ball. However, sensible leading and straight kicking in front of the goal saved the day and resulted in a 56-point win. Good to see the 'red fella' Greg Hill back on the track and with 3 goals; it proves left-footers, and in particular Hilly, can play anywhere on the field.

After a second term hiccup that would make Norm Gallagher's BLF proud, the Seconds waltzed away with the match. Bob 'Mr. Reliable' Berton kicked five majors and Mick 'Mr. Casual' Agnew kicked four.

One can sympathise with the Redlegs who found Robert 'Death' Andreatta impassable at fullback (I wonder why? Perhaps it could become a guessing competition). A good 96-point victory lads.

With up to nine regulars out of their side the Thirds certainly showed their coach that they are a definite finals team with a fine 69-point win on Sunday, Best players were Robbie Bagatella, Wayne 'Spanner' Spencer and Greg Dreyer.

Today we play the Hawks at home. Let's get those feathers flying Swans and three more wins. Up The Swans!
