GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" September 5, 1993 - No. 19

September is the month when the real football season starts, so good luck to the 1sts and Under 18's. Let's get two wins and keep ourselves in the hunt for the premiership that the club has worked for this season. The committee would like to thank Ian Wade and Ffiona Beverley for the great job they did in organising the Swans Auction, which was once again an outstanding success.

Congratulations to Brett Davis who won our best and fairest award by one vote from Greg Dreyer. Andrew McCashney was the 2nds winner by two votes from Brett McAlister. In the Under 18's, Graham Foley was a clear winner from Peter Vardanega.

All the good lead-up work at training before the (Senior's) Leeton game was not taken onto the field as Leeton showed greater desire to finish their season with a win than we did. Our best was Jamie Bennett who won the incentive award of $100, next Mark Brown who received the $50, Joe Agresta $30 and Greg Collins $20.

The Reserves finished the season with a good win after fielding one of their strongest sides of the year. In a year that can only be described as a disappointment, it would be appropriate to thank Mark O'Bryan for his coaching effort under difficult circumstances. Best players were Andrew McCashney, who won the sponsorship award of $30. Grant Cameron who won the $20 and mug. Other good players were Nick Creighton, Scott Angrove and Bruce Carmichael.

The Under 18's missed the opportunity of gaining the double chance in a very close game. Hopefully they can reverse the result in the finals. Best players were Peter Vardanega, Matthew Kenny, Malcolm Burke, Damon Clark and Mark Henderson. Once again best of luck to our players.
