GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" July 9, 1995 - No. 13

A very bad day at the office is the only way to nicely put our efforts against Temora last Saturday. It is that we thought we were too good after being 20-odd points in front during the second quarter, or that we cannot play football on Saturday, or we were looking forward to the Cocktail Night and not concentrating on the game at hand? Whatever the reason, we certainly need to address the problem and sort it out in the lead up to the finals.
Our Under 18's were the only winning side on the day and full congratulations to them. Best players were Kane Duncan, Brent Harrison, Matt Thompson, Gavin Simpkin and Kevin Collins.
The 2nds had a battle on their hands right from the start and although we lost, we certainly weren't disgraced - the side as a whole could have done better. Award winners were Dominic Norman $30, Andy McCashney $20 and 'Fatty' Hathaway $10, with the Players Player award to Mark Cameron.
The 1sts spent the week improving their approach to the Ganmain game after last week's setback, so an improved effort should result. Best players and award winners were Greg Collins $100, Matt Kenny $50, Tony Butcher $30 and Danny Files $20. Other good players were 'Swampy' Davis, and 'Billy' McGowan with another bag of goals.
The Cocktail Night was an outstanding success for those who attended. Some very sore heads and other assorted stories came out. Possible it would be best to catch up with Matt Kenny and Christian Files, who both had best on ground performances that night to really find out what happened.
This week it's our old enemy Ganmain, so let's show them that last week was only a minor hiccup!
