GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 15, 1994 - No. 6

It's a long way to travel to come away with three footy losses, though a pleasing aspect of all three games was the tackling efforts. The Thirds played like John Hewson - with plenty of determination but without the results. The backline played extremely well with 'Vaccers' ($15), Clarkie ($10) and Kane Duncan ($5) picking up the incentive awards, and Simon Lascock and Wayne Donetto having good games.
The Seconds played like low grade sandpaper, with plenty of grit. The third quarter effort lifted the spirits of the loyal Swannies supporters. Best players were General, Bunny and new player Danny Moylan ($30), Millsy ($20) and Chris Noack ($10) courtesy of Bertoldo Bakery. Adam Sara playing up from the Thirds also put in a top effort.
The Netballers had a draw - the only bright part of the day in terms of results. More details next week.
In a game that reminded of a Steven Seagal love scene - tough and not very pretty - the Seniors slugged it out. Then in the last quarter turn-around more impressive than an NSW Liberal politician, supporters received a huge lift, and the Tigers a similar sized scare! But alas, not enough. Best players were the coach Shane Fitzsimmons, 'Gus' Argus, 'Swampy' Davis, Phil Rowston and Craig Bretherton, with the Past Players sponsored incentive award winners being 'Ich' Eichler, 'Bird' Burdett, 'Joker' Bretherton, 'Axle' Foley and 'Splash' Collins made a difference when he came on. 'Conans' Conlan did a rubber band.
Thanks to Ian and Jenny Geddes effort for the movie premiere - a good night had by all.
Congratulations to Greg 'Fifty' Dreyer and Rachael Neville on their engagement.

Look forward to the Lions today! CARN THE SWANS!
