GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 17, 1997 - No. 20

In a tough, hard fought encounter the Seniors were defeated by a very determined Turvey Park outfit. It was a top game of football with neither side prepared to give in. Perhaps a few crucial turnovers were the difference between winning and losing. The non-contracted players awards were $130 Tony 'Cracker' Mahar, $70 Danny '000' Baxter, $50 Damien 'Superboot' Scott, $30 Jason 'Jockey' Magoci and $20 Trevor 'Truck' Clarke. The McDonalds Coaches award was won by Dean 'Plugger' Jamieson.
In a very good team effort effort the Reserves recorded an excellent win. The Bertoldos Bakery best player awards were $30 to Adam 'Portugese' Baulch, $20 to Matthew 'Terrior' Hosking and $10 Matthew 'Special K' Kenny. The Players' Player awards to Danny 'Mutley' Tuohey and the Mugs' Mug went to Malcolm 'Mallee' Burke. The McDonalds/Griffith Coaches award was won by Brendan 'Benny' Giason.
The Under 18's were defeated by a very strong opposition. The best players were Tom Spry, Michael Elliott, Michael Tull, Matthew Neyland, Michael Duncan and Stephen Mitchell.
Congratulations today goes to long serving player Greg Dreyer who will play his 150 senior game for Griffith. Let's all get behind 'Fifty' today and see if we can make it an even better occasion to celebrate.
