GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" June 21, 1998 - No. 10

IN front of a good crowd on a terrific day for football the Swans were jumped early by Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong. Despite a minor recovery in the second quarter the Lions ran away with the game in the second half. We need to be ready to work from the first bounce and not allow the opposition teams starts if we want to give ourselves a chance to match it with the better teams in the competition.
The awards were donated by Kevin and Mim Rowston and they were as follows: The Griffith Ex-Servicemen's Club dinner for two was won by Damien "Super Boot" Scott, the Billabong Bottle Shop award was won by Matthew "Grub" Cox, the Prendys BP award was won by Frank "Smoke Free Zone" Matthews and the Lowes award was won by Myles "The Goolgowi Kid" Bunn.
The Reserves played well and had a good win. The Players' Player Mug award was won by Michael "Mildura Mick" Claydon, $30 to Jason "Jooce" Catazariti, $20 to Andrew "Grumpy" Amor. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches award was won by Rodney "Gerry Gee" Duncan.
The Under 18's played four good quarters of football and had a very good win. The awards were $15 to Jake Mcguire, $10 to Paul Reed and $5 to Rick Frkovic. The McDonalds / Griffith Coaches was won by David Dunn.
The netballers were convincingly defeated 74 to 4 but battled the game out with a good, spirited opposition.
This week's player profile is on Aaron O'Keefe - Nicknames: Dogdad, Porky, Erin, The Glenormiston Terror. Favourite Pastimes: Gym, gym and more gym, not wearing tops, telephoning his cousin, sleeping on the lounge, removing flywire screens. Inspirations in Life: Arnold Schwarznegger, Justin Barry. Favourite Musicians: The Four Kinsmen, Terang Boys Choir. Dislikes: Wearing tops, cleaning, staying awake, carpet (being able to see it), Frankies cooking, milking cows. Most memorable moment: Losing an eyebrow at Easter, going to the beauticians.
This week's awards against Wagga Tigers are donated by MIA Fuel Supplies and we thank them for that.
