GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" May 22, 1983 - No. 7

Once again, we failed in our bid to win away from home. Although we came within a whisker of knocking off Turvey, we once again managed only two quarters of football. Still, the fight was there, and no doubt Ardlethan are in for a torrid time at home today. Best for the Swannies were Robbie Owen, Darrell Collins, Glenn "Hitman" McLeod, Jamie Robinson, Wayne Bottcher and Drew "Donger" Hicks.

The Seconds, by contrast, put in an excellent four quarter effort to soundly defeat the more fancied opponents. This game proved we have class and now we need is the consistency to be a top side. Best players were Steve "Tich" Buchanan, Peter "Madness" Madden and Peter "4 a.m." Casey.

It was disappointing to see the Swans could only field 16 players in the Under 19's. However, once the school holidays are over, we should get a few back. Despite this disadvantage the young Swannies battled on gamely against the bigger, more experienced Turvey Park side. Best for the Swans were Simon Hicks, Wayne "Tangles" Wade, Paul Romagnolo and Craig Murray. Anyway, best of luck to all grades today, and hopefully we can pick up three wins.
