GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" April 25, 1997 - No. 4

After a hard opening term, the Griffith boys kicked away to record another big win. I am sure Anthony will not allow complacency to set in at this early stage of the season because there are plenty of spots up for grabs in the Senior 20.
The Senior awards were $130 to Chris "Conan the Barbarian" Conlan, $70 to Trevor "I am not whistling ever again" Clarke, $50 to Jamie "KB" Bennett, $40 to Brendan "The Swiper" Giason and $30 to Wayne "hold on mum I'll be back in a minute" Bodycott. The players' player award was won by Brendan Giason. Other good players included the Pavey brothers and Don Moran.
The Reserves played well as a team to record a convincing win. The awards were $30 to Rodney "The Shark" Savage, $20 to Malcolm Burke and $10 to Adrian Pavise. Players' player award to Ray "Jimmy" Willis.
The Under 18's were defeated by Narrandera despite a comeback after half time. The best players were David Savage, Mick Elliott, Luke Irons and Michael Tull.
I have not been given any Netball; however, I know A Grade won 42-35 and B Grade lost 15-38.
This week's Player Profile is on a new player to the club in Phil Pavey.
Nickname: Pedro. Favourite Pastimes: Football, training, socialising. Most Admired Sportsman: Anyone with a training ethic better than mine. Favourite Food: Jelly slice. Advise to young players: Train as hard as I do to get the most out of your football. 1997 Aim: To bring out the "scrunchie" in Club colours. Career Highlight: Sharing accommodation with the boys at Swan Hill.
