GRIFFITH NOTES: "Riverina Football Record" August 27, 1994 - No. 2

Nearly the end to a long and drawn-out season. The day against the Eagles last week started well with the Under 18's demonstrating that when they put it together, they have the goods. Adjusting well to the conditions, including a makeshift umpire, the Swans came home with a vengeance. Best players were Matty Kenny, Glen 'Agro' Collis, Craig Browne, Brent Harrison (both big talents for the future) and the incentive award winners Matthew Bunn, Simon Taylor and Matthew Rovere.
The Seconds once again did it tough with a makeshift side (Mark O'Bryan must wonder if there is a God, and whether she looks favourably upon him. There were some good passages of play, and Mark 'Pup' O'Bryan, Glen 'Bruno' Ceccato, Peter Vardanega, Dom Norman and Brett 'General' McAlister stood out.
The A Grade netballer without Karen Evans were quite delighted to get up in a close game 21-18. This auger well for the finals. Carmen Olney and Karen Donetto shooting had good games. The B Graders went down, but Cathy DeMamiel and Louise Hill had big games.
The Firsts survived a scrambling match against a determined Eagle side. Not helped by the weather, the Swans got up. Brett 'Swampy' Davis put in a huge game spending much of the day on the bottom of the pack. Frustration saw him sin binned. Best players besides 'Doctor' were coach Shane Fitzsimmons, Mark Brown and Mark 'Darkie' Henderson, and the incentive award winners were Andrew Barber, Greg Collins Tim Fraser and Graham Foley.
There's a reminder that the club's best & fairest vote count is at the Exies Sports Club at the oval on Sunday, starting at 2 pm. King Billy Cokebottle, supported by the Sutton's, will be at the Ex-Servicemen's Club on Friday, Sept 16. A good night of comedy promised. Please if you can support the Street Stall, and the Auction (goods and help) please do so.
The last game of the season away today against Tigers - Carn The Swans!
