SWANS CLUB NOTES: Riverina Football Record June 3, 2000 - No 9.

LAST week both players and spectators were reminded that football is a winter sport, it was nothing more than brass monkeys' material. Once again it was left to the Reserves to be our ray of sunshine on a cold, wet and windy day, they kept their unbeaten record intact against a much-fancied Turvey Park side in probably the worst conditions of the day.
First Grade however couldn't carry the intensity from the GGGM game through going down by 35 points. Both the Thirds and the netballers also found the opposition too tough on the day. Thank you once again to our game sponsors Tom Harmer from the Yenda Producers and John Kupsch from JK Signs, the club appreciates their support greatly.
Starting the awards this week with the netball and Lisa Benson was once again the outstanding for the A Graders, while Minietta Walker fought hard all day for B Grade. In the Thirds Paul Reed was awarded the J.D's Party Pizza, while Ben Ford and Nathan Creevy won the McDonalds and Video Ezy awards respectively. Hopefully coach Shane Ruyg this week will have a full list to take to EWK as the previous away trips have been poorly attended and being a Saturday game will make it even harder.
In Reserve Grade the awards were very hard to give to just five players, as there were no passengers on the day. Myles Bun will be shouting at last with the Billabong Bottle Shop voucher. He was closely followed by Peter "The Axe" Hunt who will be looking for a bigger mudflap for his Holden/Caterpillar ute with the Autobarn award, while the McDonalds voucher was taken out by goal of the day kicker in Paul Woolnough. Christian "Rashman" Files will be doing his bit around the home with the Griffith Laundry Service voucher, while it was Kane McGregor's turn to wrestle with the Players' Player Mug and hopefully, he can be talked into finishing the year with us when his work is finished in Griffith.
First Grade awards went as follows, Daniel Tuohey showed his worth in the backline with a consistent effort all over the ground (except the 10m square in which you have to kick goals from) to take out the Exies Dinner for Two, Jason Malone won the Snuggle Inn voucher, while Dean "Roadrunner" Jamieson will be shopping at Donaldson's Mitre 10 with voucher in hand. David Curran took out another Rons Auto One award, just edging out Jon O'Dwyer who walked away with the McDonalds voucher. Both the Caltex Petrol voucher and the Players' Player Mug was won by NB's for Hairs favourite customer Andrew Hill.
This week we make the trip to Gumly Oval in what will be a must win situation for the First and Third Grade to keep in touch with the top five. Our game sponsorship for today is Vaccari's Bakery, thank you to both Glenn and Jason. On the social scene, Saturday night the 17th of June after we play Leeton, we have a mid-season ball at the Exies on Burrell starting at 8p.m. The theme for the night is to dress as something beginning with the first initial of your first name. Supper and music will be provided. This of course will lead us to the next Reverse Draw the following day. If you require a Reverse Draw ticket, please contact Ian Wade or Damien Scott. Good luck to all grades today, let's make the trip worthwhile. Go Swannies!
